We stayed at The Relish for our wedding night in May. They were really good about letting my husband check in early to get ready and the room and hotel were very nice. We had the Orchid Suite (I think that was it's name) and it had a big 4 poster bed that dominated the room.

Although everything was nice we weren't overwhelmed or particularly impressed with the hotel. It was nice but not amazing. We were looking forward to the boutique touches it advertises but didnt really feel there was anything special about the room or hotel. The breakfast was good, tasty but tables were quite close together.

Also, as it was our wedding night we expected some recognition of the fact - either a congratulations or something but it was only as we were leaving at the end when someone said as an after thought 'oh did anyone say congratulations?'

overall a nice hotel but nothing special

I am very sorry to hear that you were not impressed with our guesthouse or service during your stay with us.

If you had come to view the guesthouse before your booking we would have been more than delighted to have given you a guided tour.

The check-in was a very hectic time due to your guests arriving before our check out time of 11.00am. So we were unable to show them to their rooms and give them their keys but we gave them an access code to the door so they were able to come and go as they pleased.

We went out of our way to help your guests by labeling all their luggage and taking it from reception to their rooms ourselves because of their early arrival.

We left a notice on the reception to where the guests were staying to avoid confusion so when your guests had left your wedding they were able to relax in their rooms with no hassle.

Due to the early arrival of your guests to the guest house and the late arrival after 1.00 am to their rooms of the night of there stay we did our best to provide a good service.

Answering the door after reception hours of 11pm because they were unable to access the guesthouse of their own accord and attending their calls at 1.00am in the morning.

We also delayed breakfast times to weekend hours so there was no rush in the morning after an eventful night.

I feel that my staff and myself could do little more to accommodate you.

Please make your own judgement as to if we could provide any more of a service.

Me and my wife stayed here last weekend and have to stay it was just perfect. From the moment we arrived till the time we checked out it was just brilliant. Staff was very helpful, polite and very well mannered. we stayed in the orchid suite , The bed is just heavenly and we had a great night sleep. There is complimentary wine, beer , juices and home made cakes available all day . the cakes are really nice and i think in two days i must have had a fair share... so thank you guys. the owners live in the hotel itself and they keep an eye on everything . we got to meet the owners and found them very hospitable. we would definitely be coming back again

Room Tip: go for the orchid room...its brilliant

We used the hotel for a base prior to our daughters wedding and found the staff very helpful, free tea & coffee came in handy. The room was very spacious and modern great place to stay very peaceful and quiet. We sat out on the patio for breakfast and really enjoyed our stay.

Spent a long weekend here with family in three rooms, all of which were lovely in their own way (Ochre with its roll-top bath and sofa, Stone with its spacious interior and Steeple with its cosy proportions at the top of the hotel).

The hotel was supremely comfortable and we particularly liked the spacious lounge which guests could use until 11pm (with the added attraction of homecake cake and coffee/juice which was freely available from the nearby kitchen area). Breakfast was cooked to order and served up in a stylish dining area.

The Relish is well located for arrivals by train, with Folkestone Central just a 10-15 minute walk away. It is an equally easy walk from the hotel door to the main shopping areas, the Leas and to the harbour. Perfect for a short stay.

This really is a boutique hotel, the décor is modern and the rooms are finished to a very high standard. Our 'Park room' was spacious and had every mod con...I'm now looking for remote controls for our bedside lights at home !!!!

Parking can be an issue but we eventually found a space on the next road down, and this hotel is only a short walk from the town centre.

The only downside for us was breakfast....it seemed rushed, the homemade bread was very sweet, coffee was sparse and the bacon was barely cooked.

Overall we felt the extra touches were lovely but on reflection the additional room cost for this hotel (relative to what we may have paid elsewhere) made this the most expensive chocolate cake we've ever eaten !

Room Tip: Park room was great.

Stayed here for a family birthday celebration in Folkestone. Overall the hotels there are not up to much. This was a very nice hotel. The house backs onto a lovely park, ideal to get some fresh air. Also a very nice patio area with tables and chairs, if the weather is ever good enough to sit out!
Room was very nice with a large bed in middle of room over looking the park views. Shame you can't see the sea! Comfortable room with all the usual facilities, but no docking station. Very limited toiletries in bathroom. It was a bit noisy in late pm as children in room above running around, insulation not the best.
Breakfast was very nice with homemade bread and a toaster to do your own although most of us seemed to burn it as bread thick and crumbly. Scrambled eggs 1st day was lovely with generous amount of smoked salmon. Cooked breakfast next day was excellent.
Only poor point was no newspapers and no possibility of breakfast in bed. Husband was very disappointed.

Room Tip: We had best room - Orchid

Lovely older type of hotel - very comfortable and quiet. Great breakfast. Complimentary wine and cake for those who feel like it. Excellent location, walking distance to the restaurants of central Folkestone and the cliff-top promenade and views.

Travellers should be aware that the hotel has neither car park nor a lift. We found parking on the street and climbing three flights of stairs wasn't problematic however.

Copper and Spices restaurant 5 minutes away on foot is a must.
10 minutes drive to the Channel Tunnel.

So much nicer than staying in the modern chain hotels and yet just as practical.
