We are just back from a couple of days break at the above hotel. It was a deal including a 2 course dinner on the first night and we enjoyed it so much we had dinner there on the second night as well.To be honest we didn't expect much as the price was very reasonable and as we had been on many of these deals before,we did expect to find some compromises, but the thing is...we didn't!! The drinks were reasonably priced, and dinner was served piping hot and very well presented. The menu has enough variety to suit everybody, with a good selection of meat, game and seafood.Breakfast is also delicious with enough variety to suit everyone. The waiting staff are very attentive in a friendly and professional manner and constantly checked if all was ok.We were given one of their refurbished rooms on the third floor which had a part sea view and was spotlessly clean and fresh, the sheets actually smelt like new,and the bathroom was also spotless with a nice selection of shower gel etc.We take these type of trips on a regular basis and always call the hotel first to make sure they take dogs as we have a miniature Yorkshire terrier, and Im happy to report that pets are allowed, although do call them in advance and let them know if you are bringing a pet. They even asked us if we needed a bed for our dog,as they are happy to supply one if needed. All in all, we had a very nice stay at the Burlington and we will definitely return there again. Its an olde worlde type hotel with a certain charm that is currently being updated, and it has a lovely welcoming feel and is just a short 5 min walk from the seafront.
Well worth a visit, and if you do go,say hello to the wonderful receptionist Julia for us.All of the staff will make sure you enjoy your stay there. We couldent ask for more.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room if possible.

My partner and I stayed at The Burlington in the second weekend in January. It wasn't very busy and therefore very quiet. It is a old fashioned hotel with great potential but would cost a few bob to modernise. However it does have character and reminded me of a the kind of hotel you would find in a p.c game, something like Mystery Manor....lol.... I did like the hotel though and the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.. Breakfast was excellent with a lots of variety.... From full English to continental. The rooms were very clean with a lovely shower and tea and coffee facilities... Bed comfortable with nice crisp sheets... Haven't got anything negative to say about this hotel..... I would recommend it to anyone....

My husband and I stayed one night here as a treat for his birthday - we live in the same town. We were upgraded which was lovely and unexpected. We had room 229 and it was fabulous. Spa bath and power shower in spacious bathroom. The bedroom had a lovely bed and relaxing. Chairs and coffee table which was nice to sit and have coffee. We didn't use the T.V so can't comment on that. The curtains ensure that there is complete darkness in the room for a good sleep. We would have liked a quilt as not used to blankets (not had them since we were kids) but the room was warm and comfy and quiet.
We had dinner and breakfast. Nice menu choices , cooked well and delivered by courteous attentive staff. There was a long wait for the first course ( nearly 40 minutes) which we thought was a bit unusual but the other courses arrived in good time following this. All the staff that we met were courteous , polite and smiling.
We hope that the refurbishment maintains the original character.

Room Tip: 229 was lovely.

Not to worry about the refurbishment as we will keep all the original features and preserve the old charm and elegance of the Burlington. Having said that, you will be pleased to know that all rooms will have quilts as from this Spring, as well as large digital flat screen TVs. I hope to welcome you again. Yours sincerely

My wife, friends and I stayed at the hotel over New Year. The rooms are very grand and clean, the location was superb (rooms with sea views is reccomended) and the service overall service was very professsional.

What more could anyone ask of a hotel?

Room Tip: Sea view rooms is recommended

We stayed here during an extremely wet and windy weekend but this did not spoil our enjoyment. Our room, though compact, was clean and comfortable with a good shower and bath. As stated in previous reviews, the television was a little dated but this was not a problem.
The room was set off the main corridor with only one neighbour and was extremely peaceful and quiet. We were greeted warmly at reception on arrival and infact all the staff we met during our stay were very polite and helpful. We stayed on an Amazon deal which included dinner on the first night; the food and service was outstanding and we didn't hesitate to book dinner there for our second night. Breakfast was equally good. We shopped in Folkestone during the worst of the weather, and had a lovely seafront walk on our second day when the weather was better. We can't speak highly enough of the hotel and restaurant and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or to stay here again ourselves.

Room Tip: We had room 357. I believe rooms on the third floor have yet to be renovated but this was outweighe...

Have spent a rather windy weekend in Folkestone and stayed Saturday and Sunday night at The Burlington on an Amazon Local offer. Had dinner on Saturday night in the hotel restaurant which was included in the deal. The hotel and restaurant seemed very quite which probably isn't unusual for this time of the year. The food was delicious well presented, well cooked and the waiting staff were extremely polite and attentive but not hanging around over us as we ate which was perfect. Breakfast was also very good choice of cooked and continental and the service from Alex was excellent.
Our room which was a standard room was very clean but rather small although that didn't affect our stay in any way. The bathroom was perfectly functional and really clean with a powerful and hot shower.
We would definitely use this hotel again if we were in the area although think it unlikely that we would return to Folkestone as the area seemed very run down and not much to do there. We used the hotel as a base and went to Dover Castle which was brilliant and also to Canterbury which is a wonderful place to visit. Overall a great weekend and very good value for £99 at the hotel.

Room Tip: may be worth upgrading to a larger room

Dear Guests,
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Your compliments regarding dinner & breakfast have been passed to our restaurant and kitchen team. May I take this opportunity to recommend visiting sunny Folkestone in Summer, which will held again this year the Triennial (major art exhibition displayed all over the town), and to enjoy the artists' workshops and galleries in the busy Creative quarter, as well as the Award Winning coastal park and beautiful beach. Not to mention a wealth of places of interest within a few miles of Folkestone. I hope to welcome you again at the Burlington. Yours sincerely

The wife and I stayed here for 1 night (arrived late) so cannot comment on the local area but our experiences were mixed. The room we had was huge with tall ceilings, (just what you expect from a building of this stature) and had a nice bathroom. All was clean. Sadly the TV looked like it was from the 1980’s and the picture quality was poor at best. The issue we had was the consistent noise throughout the night, people stomping in the room above (we were ground floor), doors being slammed outside in the hallway and staff bringing in goods in the very early hours. We spent more time awake than asleep. As nice as the building is to look at, it’s not a very practical hotel (not the room we had anyway). If I were in town again, I’d probably look for somewhere else.

Dear guests,
Thank you for your review and positive criticism. The noise issue (apart of the noise from the room above yours which was not reported to reception at the time) is being investigated with our team of staff to be addressed so it does not happen in the future. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. With regards to the television, you will be pleased to hear that large high definition flat screen TVs will be fitted in all rooms next month. I hope to welcome you again at the Burlington. Yours sincerely
