We booked a few weeks in advance as we were going to France for the day after the cheap ................chocolate!!! . After a five hour journey from Mid Wales, and then the journey over to France, it was a pleasant surprise to reach this hotel. It was really stunning with all the Christmas decorations up. The receptionist was very profesional and welcolming, even the cleaners had a smile and hello and obviously doing an excellent job. The hotel was very well heated and spotless. Our room was huge with four single beds, we do have very good friends, well, they are now.
We upgraded by £20 each for a three course evening meal and breakfast. The staff in the Bay Tree were totally brilliant and nothing was too much trouble, even when I used the wrong knife. lol Im sure they will remember us. We have never been treated so well anywhere before.
We will certainly be staying again. And just a note to management, please treasure your staff as you have some of the best.

only stayed for one night but would have loved to stay for the week.staff were great, freindly and very helpfull. To be honest I wasn't expecting a lot for what we paid for our stay but would book again tomorrow.Food was great as was the room.Hotel was within walking distance of the sea front and the town centre. Can't find anything negative to say about our stay despite there being a wedding function on at the hotel the night we stayed.

This is a splendid building with lots of character. Our room was enormous with a very comfortable bed and although it was a Saturday night it was very quiet. Breakfast was good - cooked to order rather than the usual congealing buffet - and the staff were very pleasant. The decor is just a bit frayed at the edges but at the price we paid it was a good bargain.

We stayed at the Burlington Hotel before heading back to Germany on the ferry. There are some areas of the hotel that are really very nice, and I did enjoy my afternoon G&T in thier lovely bar, however our room and my Mother's room were in dire need of new furniture, new bedding and new carpeting. The windows were filthy and had to opened just to get a good look out. It was very warm while we were there, so a fan would have been nice. We did leave our windows open so that did help, however the towel rack in the bathroom was a heated one, and gave off a lot of heat, so I had to keep the door shut ,so it did not raise the temp even more. Make sure you bring your own shampo and body soap. The only available bathroom products in the room, was a soap dispenser near the sink.
Breakfast in the morning is okay. The breakfast room itself was beautiful and they really did try to make sure you had everything you needed, but the food was not the best quality.
This hotel has great potential, however it will not reach that potential until a remodel of the rooms is done and the quality of the food improves.

Dear guest,

Thanks for your review and positive criticism.
Despite the hotel on-going refurbishment, a small number of rooms are still to be renovated, which was the case of the room you stayed in. Hopefully these rooms will be updated soon and I would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.
As you stayed in July, the weather was pretty hot and fans are available on request from reception.
I would like to point out that all our bathrooms are fitted with at least liquid soap and shower gel/shampoo dispensers located by the sink and the bath/shower areas.
Your comments are important to us in order to rectify and improve wherever possible.

I chose this hotel due to its location to the Euro Tunnel (about 15 minutes). It is in a great location overlooking the English Channel. The hotel needs modernising. Our room had a new bathroom but the bedroom was very dated and tired. The room appeared clean but the carpet was very old and I wouldn't have walked on it barefoot. The bed was very uncomfortable and had a plastic mattress cover that meant you boiled at night! Our friends had a more updated modern room so maybe this would be worth requesting when you arrive. Overall ok for one night and convenient for the Tunnel but would not be back.

Dear Guest,

Thanks for your review.
As you rightly mentioned, most rooms & bathrooms have been updated. However several guests rooms are still to be fully refurbished, such as the room you stayed in and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience.
The renovation of these rooms should be completed in the near future, and in the meantime, we will try not to allocate these rooms.
Yours sincerely

I booked this after reading some pretty negative comments about it, so prepared myself for the worst. However the reality was a very pleasant surprise. The room was clean, modern and spacious; the staff friendly and helpful; and, most importantly for us, it was close to the Euro Tunnel. It as almost a shame we were only there for one night.

Me and my friends stayed at the hotel as a stop for our trip to France. The hotel was very luxurious and full of character and the view of the see was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious for 4 of us sharing. The food was good too especially for breakfast as there were different choices from the buffet. We had a very comfortable stay which is what we need for a long day of travelling. All in all it was a good value for money and will definitely stay there again.
