This hotel is comfortable and relaxing. It has only 12 bedrooms, and is privately owned. The owner is working very hard to make a success of this hotel. He is having the place refurbished in stages as money permits. The new decor is well done. The food is of a consistently good standard and the Chef has been there for years. We live near Wards so we haven't slept there, but we have seen the bedrooms. We have been to Wards regularly for about 15 years and we have seen the business evolve.
We have a family member with a very severe banana allergy and we told Wards that we would like to bring her to Sunday lunch, and it was easily arranged that there would be no banana on the menu on that day. Most hotels couldn't or wouldn't do that, but if you give a bit of advance notice they will bend over backwards to help.
If you want 5 star perfection, Wards is not for you. But if you want a place to relax with family and friends and be comfortable and well fed at a reasonable price and be attentively looked after by friendly staff, you'll love Wards. Its one of Folkestone's undiscovered gems.More
