I'm morally torn about this Folkestone cinema because on the one hand I want to support this quirky and unusual classic cinema and keep it going, but on the other hand I resent having to pay top price for a decent seat on the balcony and for a second-rate sound system.
But having said that, it has real character and charm. It is well-supported on Silver Screen Cinema Club days, (Thursday mornings) when members can enjoy a special reduced-entry fee to see a quality film with a free cuppa and biscuits.
On the downside, the cinema tends to keep the outer doors locked until nearer showing times, so on chilly days there is nowhere warm to stand while queuing. Access is also difficult for some as there are many flights of stairs to climb, although there is a chair lift for the disabled.
