Yes, the place is clean and the owner is friendly. But my room, designated a double, was just big enough for one. The cupboard door was so close to the bed that the bedside table stopped it opening. The shower was tiny and the door to the toilet had to be shoved open. I am not tall, but I had to crouch to see myself in the mirror. In short it was a single room unsuitably adapted to be a double. the breakfast is average, but not great. Location is not close to the town centre or the station.

Thank you Nicholas for taking the time to do a review. We are sorry that you only found us adequate. If you had researched our Guest House you would have know we were a 15 minute walk from the town centre. The shower is a standard cubicle size in England. We have recently had a new carpet fitted in the room you occcupied for 1 night and is still a bit stiff, we will do something about that. Both mirrors in the room, one is for when sitting at the dressing table and the one over the basin are all at the optimum height. The word double refers to the type of bed not the size of the room. I am not sure why you thought the breakfast was average as you never complained at the time or when asked if everything was satisfactory. We am to meet the needs of all our guest and we obviously did not meet yours. Regards Sarah and Jim

My fiancé and I stayed at the Rob Roy for three nights to allow us to explore the local area and to go on a day trip to France. The owners Sarah and Jim were friendly and welcoming and couldn't have done anything more for us. The room was clean, tidy and well equipped and the bed was more comfortable than our one at home! We tried a different breakfast option each day and all were equally as tasty. We would recommend the Rob Roy to anyone.

We traveled to Folkestone to start our holiday to France on that fateful Friday afternoon that the Dartford Tunnel and Blackwall Tunnel had to close due to a bomb scare. Heading down from Newcastle upon Tyne was quite a first leg we thought, with our black lab Monty in the car, until we hit the Dartford trouble.
Sarah and her husband could not have been more helpful, ringing us on our mobile to check we were ok, trying to direct us through London at 11pm at night with 9 mile tailbacks! We arrived at the guesthouse at 1.45am and they could not have been more friendly!

Room was fab, linen clean and fresh, breakfast the next morning was great. Room had access to a garden for the dog, we couldn't have asked for a better and more friendlier place! Thank you both so much for your help that day/night.

Would definitely recommend this place!!!!

Stayed in room 1 on ground floor that had a lovely little garden to sit in.sarah was so welcoming. --- she let us check in early which was great--nothing was to much trouble for her. The breakfast was great. Left each day full . Will def return to this b&b again and recommend it to others. Thank you again x simon and jayne

This guest house was perfect for an overnight stay (or longer!) before taking the Eurotunnel. The rooms are comfortable, very clean, very nicely set out and with a personal touch. Sarah is warm and welcoming and very helpful. The room prices are very reasonable. The location is perfect to walk down to the small port town. No complaints and would be happy to stay again!
