Having been a Folkestone resident all my life I can say it’s so good to see what has been done to the harbour arm. Done up well with a good mixture of small bars and restaurants to sit and while away the day. Not the cheapest place to eat and drink but well worth the extra for the atmosphere especially if you are lucky and there for when there is live music.

Everyone from Folkestone wants the developments on the harbour arm to succeed but after my experience last night I think some of the food pop ups need to give some thought to value for money. We ate at Pick up Pintxos and thought that overall the miniscule pintxos provided very poor value for money especially compared to other excellent restaurants nearby such as the excellent El Cortador in the Old High Street.

Take a stroll down the old train tracks. Now home to flower beds the old Folkestone Harbour Station which closed in 2001 (used to be an operational train station taking people from London to the France bound ferry). The station has been regenerated for public use. Walk along the platform and tracks or sit and have lunch in this wonderful open public space.

As you stroll towards the end of the pier, you will see food stalls, restaurant, bars and the lighthouse.

The place comes alive in the evenings on weekends with live music so it’s a nice place to spend a semi romantic evening (as long as the sea winds don’t blow you away trying to get there) ☺️

Great parking.
Interesting to wander along the arm, sample the beer wine and food stalls as you go.
Also has lovely views from the wall and great place to climb up the hill to see the quirky shops and rest of the town.
The beach and harbour are great too.
