Have just returned from a weekend away at Hunters Quay and as the title suggests this place is a breath of fresh air.
I have been to a few caravan sites around the UK which I would describe as OK, but wouldn't go back again but hunters Quay is genuinely one I was saddened to leave as we're my kids.
We stayed in a jura caravan which we found clean, comfortable and quite luxurious at a fantastic price. The site is kept immaculate despite the torrential downpours when we were there.
The entertainment area we found great for our kids (4 & 5) with a soft play, outdoor play area and games area, the swimming pool was also fab.
The restaurant was clean and relaxing and food was of great quality. Had a problem with food service on the Saturday night which was slow to the point I actually thought we were forgot about however after speaking with the duty manager (Barry I think his name was) everything was sorted and normal service resumed.
The evening entertainment was typical of the kind of resort and I actually found quite good with something for both kids and adults.
Overall would definitely recommend this place and will be returning in the future

Booked a last minute family break at the Hunters Quay Holiday Village. Our third visit in 5 years to this place, we love it. We always stayed at a 'comfort lodge' but this time upgraded to a 'comfort plus' and the only difference we noticed was the extra ensuite loo in master bedroom. Let's get down to the detailed stuff.
Location: great, easy access by car and ferry to Dunoon from Gourock. The Village sits up off the shore of Holy loch giving some great views out across the Cowal peninsula. Great for walks as well.
On site facilities: Check-in was quick and easy, even more so because we knew our way about from previous visits. Leisure club on site has swimming pools and outdoor activities for all ages....at a cost. The indoor amusement centre is a bit chaotic though and I lost count on how many times I had to get an attendant to come & check games, fruit machines etc for jammed coins/losing money. All in all plenty to keep kids entertained for an hour or so on a rainy day.
The Restaurant: Hunters Quay bar & grill.
Where do I start? Food has always been good and was again on our Friday evening visit but as good & friendly as the waiting staff were the chefs in the kitchen need a kick up the backside!! We waited over an hour for our food to arrive which is ridiculous. Table was booked for 8pm, we arrived at 7:50. Sat down and ordered food for 8. Recieved our dinner at 9:05.
Dunoon town centre is only a short 10 minute drive away as well which is handy for Morrison's, Chinese takeaway, etc as the the onsite shop is good for necessities milk, bread, newspapers etc
There is a chip shop van on site which opens every night from 5pm and the fish suppers are delicious and freshly made.
As I said at the beginning of this review we love coming down here because it is just so relaxing, peaceful and laid-back so if that's what your after then I would recommend it.

Just back from a great 3 night self catering caravan stay. Firstly the positives: We were checked into a fantastic, new caravan that I can only describe as spotless. As it was a self catering holiday we spent most of our time cooking in the van which was well equiped and had everything you need. We enjoyed the pool area and the kids soft play. I was impressed with the outdoor play area, very safe and secure for my four year old son, who enjoyed himself, allowing myself and my husband to relax.
Unfortunatly there were a few negatives; the service from the bar/restaurant was poor. Deciding to treat ourselves to sunday lunch, we waited with menus for sometime before giving up and returning to the comfort of our caravan. The local shop was also not opened as advertised (4pm - 6pm off season) I got the impression that as it is slightly off season they may be running with fewer staff. Not great, as regardless when you choose to come throughout the year, service should be good.
To sum up we were pleasently surprised by the quality of the caravan and overall the stay was value for money, we would return.

I have to say as someone who left Dunoon several years ago I was very surprised by the quality of the complex. It has clearly been done up recently and the facilities were fantastic. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. The pool facilities are great. The only thing I would say is check the opening times of the restaurant and book if you are planning to eat later in the evening.

Not long returned from a weekend break at Hunters Quay which as a group of 9 we all thoroughly enjoyed it! The lodge was well equipped and very spacious for us all, and the views from the site are fantastic! We ate in the site restaurant one night and the staff were outstanding. The young trainee girl called Kimberley and the tall American girl also called kimberley are a credit to this place! There was a few issues with our food and the bill but these girls couldn't have been more helpful. They were extremely efficient and always so cheerful that it made our experience all the better we can't praise them enough! Overall this is a great place to stay and we will definitely be back!
