My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay - a birthday treat for Chris. We had a great time and Christine. Colin and staff made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the Colintraive room which had a king size bed and ensuite shower room, lovely fluffy towels and Melton Brown toiletries. Plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits on the hospitality tray. We dined in the hotel on our first evening - food superb, Sat at the table at the bay window overlooking the water towards Cloch lighthouse. Weather was also kind. We will be back and hope to stay in the Lamont Room - which has four poster bed and has been recently refurbished. The hotel photos does not do this room proud. One of those little gems you come across now and again. All in all a very relaxing weekend.

We visited Aboot's Brae, for the first time, on returning from a motorcycle trip in Northern Ireland. Christine & Colin are extremely welcoming and friendly. The service was, at all times, quick efficient and personable.

The house is lovely, we had a room at the top, front with a fabulous view (see photo). Room was very large (handy with all the bike gear) and clean. Lovely big bed with a sofa and chair in the bay window to relax in soak up the view. The mature gardens are also nice and one of the squirrels made an appearance at breakfast!

We opted for dinner, bed & breakfast during our stay and were very happy with the choice, quality and quantity at dinner. 3 courses of this quality are an extemely rare find at £28.50 a head. There's a decent selection of wines with quite a few available by the glass which is great when you want a different wine with each course without ending up on your back after 3 bottles of wine.
Breakfast also didn't disappoint with a good old Scottish fry up and the usual selection of cereals juice etc.

I heartily recommend staying at Abbots Brae, the stay was extremely pleasant and probably one of the best value for money hotels I've ever stayed at. Next time we're in the Dunoon area Abbots Brae will be our first choice!

Room Tip: Stunning views best from the front rooms on top floor (worth clmbing the stairs)

Stayed for four days at the end of July early August. I was visiting a friend as well as touring round the area for a few days. It's always nice when the owners remember you from previous visits, and Christine and Colin made my stay very welcome again. Food was excellent again and a good selection of wines to choose from. Comfy bed, choice of pillows, as I mentioned last time most hotels just have foam pillows of any type and that's your lot! Molton Brown toiletries - really nice. All the rooms have views, either of the bay, or the garden, so nobody goes away disappointed. Christine and Colin deserve the reviews they get, nothing is too much trouble and Christine always has time for a chat in the lounge after your meal. By the way I've borrowed your book 'The American Years' Dunoon & the US Navy, and I will send it back to you before the end of this month!, thanks for that. If you are touring for a few days make time to go to the Isle of Bute and visit Mount Stuart, the home of the Marquess of Bute, especially on a fine day and take time to walk down to the shore, it really is worth it. All in all I had a most enjoyable time again at Abbots Brae barring Wednesday when the rain was relentless, and brought the poor rest and be thankful road out of action yet again this year, and probably will be for quite a few days according to the experts. Hope the rest of the Season is good for you,and hope to see you next year.

We had a two night stay here - a surprise for my partner's birthday. From the beginning with a very warm welcome from Colin, our stay was just perfect. I was so touched by the special attention my partner received on his birthday (our table was beautifully presented with "happy birthday" confetti). The waitress (Zoe) was absolutely wonderful, so cheerful and helpful, the best waitress we have experienced, ever! Food was great and Christine introduced herself to us and made our stay even more special. We wholeheartedly recommend Abbots Brae. We had such a great time. Thanks for the loan of the binoculars! We purchased a Living Social viucher for this hotel. The staff were realy friendly and the rooms lovely. The breakfast was realy good and presented with a smile and a chat. We had intended to park the car up and walk everywhere when we got to the hotel. This we did but the hotel is on a very steep hill and in the bad weather it was a bit of a nightmare going up this hill as it tended to be quite slippy. Our room was on the 3rd floor and by the time we had negotiated the hill and 3 flights of steep stairs we were puffed out. My husband is 74 and this was quite hard work for him. We did not eat our evening meal at the hotel as they only served 3 course meals which was too much for us. Also the price was quite steep but I suppose if you are not cooking for lots of people you need to make it pay and the food always smelled good.
We found a very reasonable Italian next to the Best Western Hotel we ate there both nights.

Room Tip: All rooms have garden or sea views
