I spent a most enjoyable break here over New Year. Christine, Colin and their staff made me feel very much at home. The room was comfortable and the food excellent. The other guests included me in their chat and I was invited to join some of them to make a larger group for dinner. Christine obliged us by putting our tables together. This all added to the enjoyment of my stay. The entertain provided on Hogmanay by local young violinists was a lovely surprise. I would certainly recommend Abbot's Brae to solo travellers.

Thank you for coming to stay over New Year. As you say we had a really lovely group of people in - as we always do at Abbots Brae. We are so pleased that you enjoyed our Hogmanay entertainment. It was fun.
Thank you for recommending us to solo travellers.

A great wee find. Been to many hotels all over Scotland and this is a real gem. Well run, friendly staff and exquisite food cooked to perfection. Best fillet steak I have ever had. I am no vegetarian but one of my friends who was staying with us is and she found the vegetarian options better than she has found in most other places, due mainly to the fact that Christine is vegetarian and home cooks all her own dishes. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, set well back from the road with stunning views. Colin and Christine (and Jinky the spaniel) are very accommodating and you really feel as if you have known them all your life - really smashing people. They even allowed us to set off some fireworks in the hotel grounds on New Year's Day. And you just have to visit the smallest bar in Scotland - the smallest bar with the biggest atmosphere. Nothing was ever a problem for them. No wonder they have so many positive reviews on Trip Advisor. We will definitely be back at the Brae. - SC & LC

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view. The room on the ground floor is great since it is near all the loung...

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel over the Christmas period to attend a family wedding on Christmas Eve. Colin and Christine were extreemly welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The wedding meal was also held at the hotel and the food was excellent and the service second to none. I would not hesitate to recomend this hotel to anyone.

How nice it was to have a Christmas wedding and then you stayed over the Christmas period. It was all a very lovely celebration for us all in the hotel as well as all our guests.
Thank you for saying you would not hesitate to recommend us. That means a great deal to us.

Arrived to be met by both Colin and Christine. Shown to our room complete with a sea view and made most welcome indeed. A pre dinner chat with other guests in the comfortable lounge prior to dining meant that dinner was a most enjoyable experience with chatter between various tables making humour and laughter the order for the meal. The staff are very attentative and nothing seems to be a problem. After dinner, coffee or whatever, in the lounge and before we knew it, it was midnight and, being a newcomer to the Senior Citizenship Club, it was time for bed. A most enjoyable experience staying here and well worth a try. Well done Colin and Christine and your staff.

We stayed for 2 nights last weekend, starting on Friday, after a long and miserable drive in the rain. We arrived at the hotel to a wonderful warm welcome from Colin, who had come out to meet us on the steps - a lovely and unique way to arrive :-).
We were shown to our room - the Lamont room - it was breathtaking - the pictures on the web site truly do not do it justice - and the view the following morning was stunning.
We had drinks before dinner, in the warm and comfortable lounge, with an array of books to browse. These drinks came from Scotland's smallest bar - it may be small bit it was well stocked - first class G&Ts served :-)
Dinner both nights was wonderful, all home produced and ingredients locally sourced. The wine list was pleasingly varied and very reasonably priced. Coffee was taken afterwards in the lounge, with us both groaning in pleasure from such full stomachs.
And the breakfasts - where to begin? The best of Scottish fare, beautifully cooked to order so once again we were "fit to burst" - we both regret not being able to manage the whiskey/oatmeal option too! And the wildlife we watched as we ate was an unexpected and wonderful treat - red squirrels, jays and even roe deer in the grounds - spectacular.
i can't begin to describe what a fantastic find this hotel is - first class service, top quality accommodation and an experience to stay with us for a very long time. We'll certainly be back - if you want a relaxing, romantic and pampered break, this is the place for you :-)

Room Tip: the lamont room is exceptional but i am convinced that any room would be wonderful

Stayed for 2 nights recently and would certainly consider another trip. Chris was welcoming and very helpful. Our dog was well provided for with blanket , towel, bowl and treats . Food excellent and good selection of wines. Loved the views over the Clyde from the dining room despite the inclement weather.

We have just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful little hotel and we cannot praise it highly enough! It has a fairy tale setting overlooking Loch Long and the views are simply stunning. Christine and Colin treated us like family...nothing was too much trouble. They know the local area well and were able to help us make the most of our visit. Our room was on the second floor at the front (Ardentinny) and it was fantastic to open the curtains to such beautiful scenery every morning. It was warm, clean and comfortable.
The food was really delicious and beautifully presented. Home cooking and fresh local produce. We ate in the hotel two out of three nights and there was plenty of choice. The breakfast was excellent and the dining room also affords views of the Loch so it is a delightful and romantic place to eat. We would certainly return if we are in the area again.
