We visit this excellent fish restaurent (aka Anselmo's) every Friday night. A reasonably priced menu to suit all tastes. Excellent service. Very popular. Best to book and not be disappointed. 01369703849

First off, I'm pretty sure this hidden gem is actually called La Balena (Italian for The Whale I think) not la belana but I digress. I am a frequent visitor to this very small ( 4/5 tables) side restaurant serving fresh fish and chips cooked in the established Chippy next door. Really it's all very basic, with wooden tables and benches, drinks out of a fridge and no frills crockery. But here is it's charm, this is just a sit-in chippy, but what it does it does very well. The fish is always fresh and serving girls always smiling. Fish and chips is about £7, with a basket of sliced bread and butter. Specials such as lemon sole or monkfish tails ( battered of course! ) are sometimes on offer but if you want to pay a visit to this lively and snug place, you will need to book, as it's small size means its usually full!
