“Beautiful lodge in stunning surroundings”
Reviewed 1 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Stayed for the weekend with a friend and my dog and would go back again next weekend if I could! Very well equipped and clean but with added touches that made it feel more like a home, such as fully stocked kitchen with all the mod cons, speaker dock for use with iPhone or iPad and gorgeous Egyptian Cotton bed linen. Will definitely be back!

Liked best: Cozy and welcoming upon arrival
Liked least: Clutching at straws but the rain was pretty bad - not sure the owners could change that though ;-)

“Great lodge, stunning surroundings.”
Reviewed 1 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

The lodge was very well equipped, especially as we were there over xmas week. Clean and tidy, and well looked after. My wife and I, sister and her two children aged 7 and 1, all had a great time walking around the Pucks glen area everyday. Getting into dunoon needs a car, but for essentials theres a Jet garage up the road within walking distance if your desperate. Experienced rain, wind, thunder and lightening, all within ten minutes when walking loch Eck, which was exciting at the time. Electric was quite high due to the electric wall heaters being on most of the day with young children around. Cant wait to return to the area and explore more. We saw two red squirrels too. Gordon, the lodge owner was great at answering any questions we had, and thanks again.

Richard, thanks so much for the positive review......really appreciated. Electricity indeed expensive at winter time, unfortunately. We're getting a new bathroom in February so if you do come back again another time that will be in place and of course you'd be most welcome to come back.

“A beautiful, well equipped lodge in a stunning location!”
Reviewed 4 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This was a truly brilliant break. The lodge was well equipped with everything you could want. It was cleaned to a high standard and very comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful and there were plenty of different walks on the doorstep for us and the children to explore. We left feeling we had had a lovely relaxing break and would highly recommend it!

“Lovely quiet setting with doorstep access to forest walks”
Reviewed 7 October 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Well equipped lodged that we have used for the past twenty years. Always been fully satisfied with quality of accommodation which is situated within an area containing several log cabins. This is a very quiet area with forest walks at Pucks Glen. Few minutes car drive into Dunoon where all local amenities can be found.

Thanks for the positive review. Along with a sprucing up of our bathroom in late winter/early Spring, we intend to get a phone line connected (and of course internet with it) within the next 6 months. Glad you had a good stay though, and as ever we would be happy to have you back. Best wishes, Gordon

“Stands out from the rest - lovely setting, great lodge”
Reviewed 18 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed in Stravaigin Lodge for 2 weeks in August this year and had a lovely holiday. The lodge is in a great setting – it feels so quiet and away from it all and yet it’s only a short trip to get supplies etc in Dunoon which is only about 10 minutes away (although there is a petrol station with a well stocked shop just a few minutes down the road as well). There are a range of lovely walks right on your doorstep and also further afield. We didn’t know the area at all and were very pleasantly surprised; so much to see and do and we ended up exploring Cowal, Bute and also Loch Lomond. One of the best features of the location is the close proximity to Puck’s Glen which has to be one of the best walks in the area. It’s a great base for exploring Cowal and its stunning scenery (we particularly enjoyed a trip to Ostel Bay (Kilbride Bay) – which has to be one of the best beaches in the country!)

The lodge itself was clean, comfy and exceptionally well equipped – they really have thought of everything! We’ve had other lodge holidays in the past and can honestly say that Stravaigin Lodge really stands out from the rest. Our hosts Gordon and Catherine were very helpful in providing information about the lodge and the surrounding areas which really helped us find our feet when we arrived first.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Stravaigin Lodge and will definitely go back there!

Reviewed 13 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Went for my birthday. The lodge was brilliant, really clean and spacious. It was very well equipped and the beds were amazing. I think I could have moved in and never gone home will definitely be going again.
Fantastic location and so much to see and do.
Our hosts were lovely and had thought of everything. A real credit to you both and thank you for making a special birthday special.

“Beautiful well equipped lodge in a perfect location”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We stayed at Stravaigan Lodge at the beginning of April and had a wonderful weekend. The hosts Gordon and Catherine had left lots of information about the surrounding area and we had a lovely time visiting the highly recommended Benmore Gardens (restored Victorian fernery a particular highlight) and sampling some excellent food at the nearby Coylet Inn. There are lots of other great walks nearby including Puck's Glen and around Loch Eck.

The lodge itself is cosy but still spacious. There was just the two of us but there is more than enough room for six people and there is a lovely big kitchen table that also seats six. The kitchen is really well equipped and leads out onto a covered decking area where you can watch countless birds swinging from the bird feeders.

There is a garage about a mile along the road that has everything you'll need for a couple of nights including food and alcohol, newspapers etc, or you can a get a bigger shop in nearby Dunoon.

Scotland sometimes suffers from owners taking the location for granted and forgetting about the little things, but the owners here have made sure the lodge has a luxurious finish - Egyptian cotton bedsheets and wool tartan blankets a really nice touch.

We will be returning again soon.
