“Great Tribute Weekend”
Reviewed 11 October 2011

We booked this hotel special for Robbie Willam weekend. On Friday the entertainment was ok but professional and on sat tribute night was excellent. The crowd and atmosphere was electric. The price we paid for tribute night weekend including 3 course tremendous dinner was very reasonable. Hotel lounge area and rooms have excellent panoramic sea views. We stayed in a well furnished and very well cleaned room on the first floor with a large window overlooking the water. Hotel Manager & staff are very friendly and courteous including bar and dinning room. The hotel standards and well trained staff very favorably with four or five star accommodation. We have enjoyed fully during our 2 day stay. It was a fabulous and memorable weekend for us and while this was our second visit to Dunoon.

Many thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. I am so delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. As you can imagine our Tribute Nights take alot of hard work to organise and it always gives us such a boost to see guests like yourselves having such a great time after all the time spent arranging it. Keep your eyes peeled for our Tribute Nights 2012. We hope to see you back at the hotel very soon for your third visit to Dunoon. Kind regards Scarlett

We stayed 1 night in August and settled our account before we left the next morning.

Imagine our surprise to find that on the 5th October the hotel had debited our account again with the same amount.

Despite being given 2 promises by the hotel Duty Manager that the money would be refunded to our account it has not.

Please think twice before booking into this hotel. This is not good customer service.

My partner and I came here with GB Tours, from Monday to Friday. We were delighted with everything, room clean and serviced daily, food was excellent and we even had a Scottish night when we had the Haggis piped in and offered to everybody. All staff were pleasant and even the bar prices were OK!

Room Tip: rooms overlooking promenade appear to be quieter as some members of party had disturbances from kids...

we stayed at the argyll hotel for 2nts with the fawlty towers theme going on. it was a mix of all ages fom 20- 70 and every one seemed to have enjoyed them selfs. there is noise at night from the brewery pub across the road but this did not effect us as we had a room facing the promenade and our beds were real comfy. breakfast is good and meals are spot on for all tastes. i would recomend this hotel for a nice wkend to all ages.

john

Room Tip: get a room facing the promenade

We stayed at the Argyll from Saturday until Monday and the Hotel, food and staff were all great. We had a lovely room called the Campbell room, spacious and clean with a view over the water. The staff could not be more helpful and the food in both the Rio and the hotel dining room were excellent. We would certainly recommend a stay here whatever you are in Dunoon for.

Room Tip: Room 101 was a very spacious room with a view.

Visited this hotel on a groupon deal good value for the two nights. We upgraded to a sea view and had a really nice room. Breakfast good, dinner poor.Rio restaurant really good.
There was noise from kids hanging around outside the hotel late on the Saturday night and this did spoil it a bit.Have to say the staff are all very friendly and the service was really good. All in all it was good value for what we paid.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a sea view

Whereas many B&Bs even charge extra for single occupancy the Argyll Hotel's single room weekend rate would be hard to beat at £32 including breakfast. The room was on the 3rd -top floor and had coombed ceilings but was spacious, evidently recently refurbished and clean with a nice sea view. Breakfast was good, served in a large function room with a panoramic view from the huge bay window. Staff at reception and breakfast were friendly and service good.
All in all a convenient location with nearby free parking even though there is no hotel car park and free wifi. The public area in front of the hotel is somewhere that kids may congregate. I'm sure previous reviewers comments are all fair from their experience but there are several pubs and restaurants within a two minute walk from the hotel. I'd stay again

Room Tip: Sea view room did have some noise from bar /bottle bank empties.
