“Family long weekend break”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

Organised through David Urquhart tours- driver very helpful and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our spacious room overlooked the Clyde- lovely. Staff also very helpful , courteous and friendly. Good choice of menu for breakfast and dinner and food was good quality . Entertainment was also included - we enjoyed everything especially the Murder mystery evening even if we didn't guess the murderer correctly!

This is one of if not the largest hotel in Dunoon, while the staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating, the decor of the rooms was very lacking. The wallpaper was hanging off the walls, the furniture was old and tired and the bathrooms were in need of an urgent upgrade. The cleanliness of the room overall left a lot to be desired, however the bedding was clean and the towels were very white, fluffy and soft. The food at the evening meal was very poor and the breakfast was adequate. The external seating area is unfortunately limited and frequented mostly by smokers leaving it unsuitable for non-smokers to sit outside.

Room Tip: The uneven numbered rooms have a great sea view, I cannot speak for the even numbered.

we booked the mystery weekend trip with David urquhart travel. told week before we were going to Glenmorag hotel in Dunoon.on arrival Dinner food was served with one desert spoon of cabbage and peas and sweetcorn burnt in a silver serving dish, then cheese and biscuits in a wrapper which you had to use your teeth to open no sharp knife on table. day after at breakfast the customer service manner was embarrassing the waiter ordered us to move tables as we had to sit in the same seats like the night before,we knew some guests had just left so remained in our seats.the rest of evening meals avoid no choice small portions sizes very basic.we filled in a customer complaint form but manageress ignored us.Our coach size was 20 8 couples complained about food then the manageress started saying contact the travel agent direct so the customers feedback forms would just get binned! they need undercover boss in and hotel inspector. i thought it was fine in terms of cleanliness but does need updating wallpaper furniture etc,and is only suited for ages 50 plus including the entertainment not recommended for young families as it looks like a care home. would not recommend i would want to put another family through the bad experience

Arranged a one night stay at this hotel organised through a coach company. Liased with the Manageress to organise drinks, late supper, cake cutting and to hold an area off for a party of 26. The Manageress couldnt have been more helpful in ensuring everything went to plan for me.We all had a fab time. The food was good, staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and tidy with tea & coffeee making facilities and TV. We had a lovely view of the River Clyde for a small supplement .I would return to this Hotel with no hesitiation as would the other 25 people who were with me.The was only 1 complaint from the group .....THE KEYBOARD PLAYER...He was awful The Manageress saved the day by agreeing ti us playing our own music and having a nice party once the Keyboard player had finished.Lucky for us he was finished prompt.

Room Tip: choose Clyde facing rooms for a small supplement

Food at dinner poor. Entertainment not entertaining. Nobody in our party wanted Scottish folk singing all night and to be honest found the singer difficult to understand. When complaining about dinner was told to put it on the comment sheet!

My wife and I stayed two nights last weekend, and I have to say it offered great value for money, however we did eat in the hotel on the Friday night and the food is very basic however if you only take B&B it is great the breakfast is fine, and yes it is in need of a refurb but the hotel is spotless and the staff are first class, as is the bar prices, we will be back. John and Katie Jedburgh.

Room Tip: we were in room 75

Stayed for 2 nights, the beds were terrible and the food was poor. Service was very poor( we overheard one poor man being given a public dressing down because he sat at the wrong table, no one else was using it and he was on his own) this made us feel uncomfortable. The bar prices were good but as none of our party were drinkers it didn't compensate for the lack of facilities. The entrance to the hotel is up a very steep hill and our tour coach had to reverse up. We were on a coach trip with David Urghart and even though the trip was reasonably priced we felt the hotel could have been prensented better, the dining room felt like a canteen, the food was below average and the lounge/bar were like an old fashioned working mans club.
