“Good Value”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Visited this hotel in April on a self drive break with David Urquart Travel, have been to this
hotel on several occasions and always found it great value fo the price paid.
Three choices of starters, main meal and sweet, Iam sure there is enough choices to suit everybody, if not must be very fussy.
Staff all very pleasant and helpful nothing to much trouble for them, and all work very hard.
The hotel is needing a make over but if money has to be spent on it then the prices would rise,
room and beds clean, towels clean and for the price paid, good value.

We went to this Hotel with David Urquhart from Cardiff! Nice hotel a bit tired as you would expect
Rooms very clean. We were at the back of hotel but did not matter as we were out on trips every day. The staff were as good as any top hotel! the food and choice of food was very good even catered for our gluten free diet. We would certainly go again. Robert our driver was Excellent.

Room Tip: Front Rooms have sea views and some are larger.

A VERY basic hotel, in desperate need of a Major Cash Injection, staff are all friendly and work like robots, can't fault them at all, however the hotel itself let's them down, It is desperately screaming out for a cash injection, The decor in Public area's is aged and tired, large visible roughly repaired cracks in the Ceilings and non-boxed=in cables, Food was OK, basic no frills menu (don't take the Hake though),
Rooms again Tired with old mis-match furniture but clean non the less.
Overall not a Hotel of Choice, but "one gets what you pay for"
It's a pity really as it is a grand hotel inside and out and could be so much better if looked after

Room Tip: Choose another Hotel

Large hotel catering for bus parties mainly. Very hard working and efficient staff, mostly foreign. The meal service for 3 bus parties was carried out with military precision. Hotel should note that the arrangement for tea and coffee in the dining room in the morning was not good. An accident could easily happen when filling up cups as waiters are rushing past where everyone is queing and lots of older guests are not too steady carrying cups and saucers and perhaps a walking stick. It would be better for tea and coffee to be served at tables by staff. Rooms were clean and sea views were stunning. Entertainment was very good and bar prices excellent. Food is adequate. Soup was good and served nice and hot. Good choice at breakfast.

Room Tip: Sea views are worth the extra cost.

Four day trip with Urquart tour company. Bed breakfast and evening meal. Very good value with two inclusive trips to Oban and Inveraray.
Hotel good. Bedroom clean and adequately furnished with tea / coffee making facilities. Meals good. Staff pleasant and very hard working. Evening entertainment provided with options to sit in quiet room to play games. Would certainly go again.

Just returned from a four day stay. Had a lovely clean room overlooking the Loch and the town of Dunoon. The food is very basic but for the price we paid it was acceptable. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were made very welcome. The drinks were very reasonable (a pint of Tennants £1.50 and most house spirits the same price) Beautiful countryside. Will return in Autumn to see a different season. A good value for money hotel. The only real downside was that it rained for the 4 days non stop.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel
