Delighted to find this place has a whole vegan menu! I noted there was a mention of honey in some capacity on the menu though, which isn't vegan, however maybe it's just a flavouring of some sort? I didn't ask about it.
Staff were very friendly and food was fantastic.

Hello Toothfairylj,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us here at the Atholl, Dunkeld.
I am delighted you enjoyed our vegan menu. Think I will use this platform to explain the honey situation.
On our regular menu we have a salad with a honey and mustard dressing. On the vegan menu we offer this salad with a cashew and orange dressing.
We make all our own dressings and actually use agave syrup for the honey part making it vegan so no worries there and I apologise for any confusion.
You are the second person that has mentioned this so we have decided to make things easy for everyone and use the same dressing for two of our three salads.( not the caesar )
This week we are putting on a spinach and strawberry salad with our homemade strawberry dressing using Perthshire berries.
If you ever have questions or would like to see a more varied menu do not hesitate to give us a call or email. The only thing you will not see on the Atholl vegan menu is faux meat.
Thank you again for taking the time to write a review, we all look forward to seeing you again soon.
Warmest Regards,
The Atholl Team

Stayed at the Atholl Arms on a little city break from Glasgow and it was just what we wanted. We were upgraded to a lovely river view room, the staff were very welcoming and the hotel has a warm and cosy feel with a fantastic location for exploring Dunkeld and the surrounds. Free and easy parking, a nice cooked breakfast and comfortable beds. We were here in low season on a Monday - would advise that a lot of the lovely shops and restaurants are closed in Dunkeld on Mondays/Tuesdays so be advised of that. Still lovely to have a wander round the town and finish up with a pint of the local brew in the Hotel's Bistro.

Room Tip: Riverview rooms are really lovely

Hello Alex M,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us here at the Atholl, Dunkeld. Our small town is filled with unique and quaint wee shops and boutiques so yes many of them are closed on a Monday.
There are lots of pleasant walks along the river and the cathedral is very interesting also.
The Atholl is open everyday serving food in the bistro, restaurant and at our outdoor terrace bar, all day everyday. Scones and coffee or something more we have it at the Atholl.
Great to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your stay, we all look forward to seeing you again soon at the Atholl. When you are ready to book just give us a call direct for the best rate.
Warmest Regards,
The Atholl Team

We had the slow/gourmet/tasting menu (call it what you wish) on the last Thursday of the month. The food and service were exceptional. Far from being slow, the courses were served in a timely manner when we were ready for each one. The food quality was excellent, cooked well and a well-balanced menu choice .... throw-in sitting overlooking the River Tay and you have a thoroughly enjoyable evening .... as they say, it would be silly not to ! (They also offer a dinner/room deal so you don't have to worry about driving home later and you can relax and enjoy the evening)

Hello thehappyman2014,
This is such a lovely review, thank you for taking the time to write this for us here at the Atholl, Dunkeld.
Our slow food tasting menus are always exciting to produce and deliver. We hope to continue this once a month or maybe more often as they become more popular. The menu is on our web site....very yummy.
Our award winning team in the kitchen offer great dishes on a daily bases using locally sourced produce whenever possible. Perthshire holds an abundance of produce throughout the summer months so expect some wonderful dishes on our daily board.
Thanks again for a great review, we all look forward to seeing you again on your next visit.
Warmest Regards,
The Atholl Team

We stayed in this hotel on our trip across Highland-Scotland and Perthshire, originally I booked a two-night-accomodation in this hotel. The hotel is nicely situated right on the river Tay and the bridge across to Birnam - not to miss. The entrance and lobby is convenient, roomy with chairs and sofas to sit in, read the newspaper etc. The parking lot is across the street right next to the riverside, on a first-come, first-served-basis but sufficient. The receptionist - who seems to have to manage multiple tasks at a time - gave us a nice welcome and showed us the room.
If you ever stay in this hotel, make sure not to be booked in rooms within the small annex to the mail building! The rooms are small, close, stuffy. We only managed to stay there for half an hour, then we returned to the reception to ask for another room as it was unthinkable to get any sleep in there. The receptionist, Sophie, was really helpful and attentive! The other room was better, located on the top floor with a window overlooking the river. Much better air and smell in this room! Nevertheless we cancelled the second night, and again Sophie was really helpful.
All in all: a nice hotel, friendly personnel and a good sleep for a night - if you get the right room -, nice breakfast (we didn't try the dinner menu).

Room Tip: Ask for any rooms on the second floor or with riverside-views.

My husband and I visited this lovely hotel during the May weekend, to celebrate our anniversary. We bought a deal through 5pm.com for 2 nights b&b, with a bottle of wine, so didn't expect 5 star luxury, but we were pleasantly surprised. Dunkeld is a lovely little town, surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and the hotel sits across from the river. It has a small car park and garden terrace, with a little bar, nestled right on the river. It really is a beautiful setting. The hotel itself has a small, pleasant bar, a restaurant to the rear and, in the evenings, the dining room where breakfast is served, opens for dinner. We arrived on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend and the hotel was busy and lively. We checked in and were given a room on the 2nd floor, reached by 2 flights of stairs. (Being an old building, there are no lifts) As I have a chronic pain condition and asthma, I was a bit uncomfortable when we reached our room, so we returned to reception to ask for a room change. This was done immediately and without question. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor so one on the first floor was offered which was still easier to get to than the original room so I was happy. We decided to have lunch in the restaurant and, although it was really busy, the service was pretty good. The food was lovely although a little pricey for lunch at £45 for 2 courses and a soft drink each. After lunch, we sat for a while in the reception lounge, a large space with lots of comfy sofas and armchairs, centred around an open fire. Dogs are allowed in this hotel and there were a couple staying at the same time as us. All were well behaved and, to be honest, we hardly knew they were there. Our room was comfortable but basic. The furniture was a bit dated but it was clean and totally acceptable. There was a small TV in the room which could have been a bit larger but this really wasn't an issue as we only watched it for an hour or so on both evenings. The bathroom was clean, as were the towels, and there was a large pump dispenser of both hand wash and body wash, a welcome change from the usual tiny, one-use bottles usually provided in hotels. Breakfast comprised of the usual cereal, fruit juices and toast, along with a hot choice, if wanted. We had absolutely no issues with this. We asked for our bottle of wine on our second evening and it was brought to us, chilled with 2 glasses, as we sat in the comfortable lounge area. The staff were really friendly and accommodating which was lovely. We visited the wildlife reserve, situated a couple of miles down the road, and it was the highlight of our stay. Entry for adults is £4 but worth every penny! There is a viewing area in the main reception building with huge windows, looking on to the bird and squirrel feeders. We saw large numbers of small birds, ducks and even a pair of pheasants who popped in for a feed. We had our first sight of red squirrels and deer in the wooded areas of the reserve. There are also a few hides which face onto the water and the resident Osprey family can be viewed from here. All in all, we had a lovely stay and wouldn't think twice about revisiting this particular hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrades are available if you want a bit more luxury but we were in a room facing the main road and didn't hear a thing.
