“A wonderful escape in the real countryside”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

We stayed with Marjorie for the weekend and had a super time. From the moment the sat nav took us off the main road, and through a forestry road, we knew we were in for a treat and we were not disappointed. The house has a perfect country backdrop, with grounds overlooking the forest, there is even a tree house and a resident Peacock! The house itself is really homely and welcoming, one evening, when the weather turned, we sat in front of a cosy open fire which was lovely. Marjorie is an excellent host who thought of all of the small details to ensure our stay was enjoyable and we loved her two dogs. The B&B is located in a perfect spot to go exploring around the region and Dunkeld is a gorgeous little village that cannot be missed. We most definitely will be going back to Upper Hatton when we are back in Scotland!

We loved our short stay with Marjory in her beautiful house and wished we could have stayed longer. The house is very homely, the dogs keen to welcome you and the rooms are simply gorgeous. She has thought of everything, even putting cosy sheepskins in the window seats so you can nestle in to watch for the wildlife from above. The peacocks were "singing" from the trees when we arrived but came down to the patio to be hand fed the following morning. Marjory lent us the 2 dogs to take for a walk and they entertained us with their flapping ears and whirlwind speed. We saw a red squirrel on her bird feeder & deer in the meadow just beyond the garden. Marjory's lovely breakfast set us up for the journey home. I would definitely revisit if i go to Scotland again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely with superb views and the 4 poster room allows the moon to shine through th...

The house is reached via a forestry road, which was better than we expected! The house has fab views over the valley and it was super to watch the local deer coming to feed.
The house is a cosy family home, and Marjory is lovely. The lounge was a relaxed area with a coal fire, which soon warmed us up.
The rooms are large, with comfy beds and lots of storage space, a nice adidtion is all rooms have whisky and sherry in addition to teas and coffee facilities. The decor of the bathrooms is slightly dated, but they were spotless with plenty of hot water and fluffy towels.
Breakfast is taken in the kitchen which was great as we could chat to Marjory while she prepared the feast. There was a large selection of cereals. fruits and juices, followed by cooked options. The porridge was plentiful and had a nice nutty taste from the pinwheel oatmeal.
You will find earplugs in the rooms - these are due to the peacocks and deer which some folks find noisy.

Our stay here was perfect. Marjory is a sweet lady who looked after us like family. The 17th century home was a wonderful stay with a herd of deer outside our window and families of peacocks. Our beds were very comfortable and Marjory's breakfasts were spot on. We stayed here for 7 days and used it as our home base for travelling. The views were fantastic and the town of Dunkeld is very nice with great pubs, bistros and a wonderful cathedral. We miss it already. Thanks!!!

We stayed for two nights in September at the start of a 17 day tour of Scotland. Upper Hatton was a great start to a wonderful vacation. It is situated in a lovely rural location outside of Dunkeld. The view out the front looks down the Perthshire countryside. Upper Hatton has resident peacocks and small fallow deer. There are paths right out the back of the house that lead to great views down the glen. Marjory makes you feel right at home. The weather was a bit chilly so she lit the fire in the sitting room and enjoyed a glass of sherry. Breakfast was delicious around a communal table in Marjory's kitchen. We had the tartan room on the ground floor. The room is very spacious, the bed fantastically comfortable and the bathroom with shower across the hall. I highly recommend Upper Hatton if you want to be conveniently located to many walking trails and sights in Perthshire.

The phrase 'hidden gem' is often over used but Upper hatton is just that. Went here for a weekend to get get away for some walking with my dog . The walks and scenery are unbelievable .Marj, the owner, is very welcoming nothing was ever a bother for her .The house sits in lovely grounds with breathtaking views .Sat outside after my walk till it got dark then went inside where there was a coal fire lit in the lounge. I have stayed in quite alot of hotels , small and large, you will struggle to find a better location and value to beat Upper hatton .
I did not eat alot for breakfast as I was going running but what i had was really nice , the other breakfasts that I saw looked excellent as well .
whether you are going on a walking, activity weekend or just wanting to get away and chill, upper hatton easily ticks all the boxes .will certainly be back very soon !!

After a couple of days of great but wet camping, we were in need of a warm place to stay and Upper hatton really is! Marjory is such a nice lady! Our room (four poster room) was so pretty and the kingsize bed very very soft. Waking up with the sound peacock Humphrey and the delicious breakfast made our stay here utterly fantastic!
