Called in on our way back from a trip to London. Great choice of menu particularly the fish which apparently is a speciality on a Friday evening. Had a really good meal in particular a sea bass risotto dish which was beautifully cooked and presented. Also worth a mention was the roasted red pepper soap and the cheesecake trio desert which were delicious. Service excellent and a good atmosphere and ambience in the restaurant. Will be going back again !

A good quality meal with quick service, kids food was good and staff very pleasant, would recommend as a good all round place to eat. Though not for a special occasion where you might want to be spoiled or something different.

We were a bit dubious about coming here for Sunday lunch as we've been to the Piercefield a few times over the years and have had disappointing meals. However, the current owners have really turned the place around. The waitresses and the restaurant manager were very helpful and were happy to engage in conversation with us despite the restaurant being very busy. I also prefer the new layout of the restaurant, which I found much more pleasant than the previous set- up when all the tables were close together in rows.

My mother-in-law said the roast beef was excellent and I felt it was a nice touch to have a specials board especially for vegetarians. I went for the mushroom and confit onion pudding, which was a nice, substantial alternative to the meat options. The dessert selection was also good.

We had lunch en route from Cambridge to Caerphilly. The pub/restaurant is in a nice area of Chepstow and it has a big car park and plenty of outside tables for the fine weather. The waiting staff were exceptional. We were made to feel welcome and we were served promptly. We both had the sliced sirloin of beef which was succulent and tender. The vegetables were cooked to perfection as was the Yorkshire pudding and if you like gravy then you are in for a treat. The portions were a good size and there was a good selection of puddings (if you have room!). We thought the cost was reasonable given the quality of the food. Roast Celtic beef £10.95. We don't travel this route very often but we will return for certain when we do.

We went there today, managed to get a table which was good. Freindly service although they got one our dishes wrong, but its happens and they fixed it straight away. Kids meals were nice, the roast was only ok. Generally ok.
