Normally stay in the Carraig Hotel in Carrick-on-Suir but due to a Classic car Rally and some unacceptable hare coursing in Clonmel meant the Carraig was full. The Carraig staff were kind enough to direct me to contact a new B and B called Ash Park House which had just opened in Carrick. I normally don't do B & B's and needed three rooms to accommodate Family on the way from the UK to attend a Family funeral. I popped along to see the lady of the house Nancy McCann who was very welcoming and showed us around this extraordinary large house. The house is amazing and the rooms are top class hotel standard and have to be seen to be believed. There is nothing about Ash Park House which will disappoint. There is a full size snooker table at the rear of property and two large sitting rooms for guests, one of which has the most amazing surround sound system.
All the rooms have en-suite facilities, our double room had a bathroom large enough to take a diving board !!! The property itself is very close to the railway line in fact it is only about 20 metres to the rear of the property but only two or three trains run during the day on the line and are the type which are almost of the silent running type. Beyond the front wall there is the main road which can get very busy but again with excellent double glazing you are not disturbed by the sound of traffic. I suspect it may well be a little noisier in the summer months ? but my guess that may well be a small price to pay in lieu of the overall welcome and quality you get here. The Irish breakfast here is a classic and more as Irish breakfasts go.
I shall be back in Carrick in March and have already booked to stay here again.
