Had a little party for my dad's 70th birthday in Ballyglass hotel on July 28th. I must say everything was first class, from the moment we arrived Ruth and her staff could not have been more accommodating. The food was simply superb, very tasty & in abundance. Definitely the place to enjoy a beautiful Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price.
We always call to Ballyglass House Hotel, whenever we are able. This family run hotel is just top class the food couldn't be better. They are well deserving of a top award for their food and presentation. A party of 38 of us stopped for breakfast in the morning and we were served a hearty breakfast, the rashers were the tastiest I have ever eaten. On our way home we called again for dinner we had a very good dinner menu choice. Everyone and I mean everyone on our bus couldn't speak highly enough of their dinner. Food is cooked to perfection. Ruth is a most charming host and she has two lovely daughters Hannah and Sarah who in years to come with be a great help with the business. Sarah took my hand (three year old) chatted away to me and showed me to my table. The driveway and the settings all around the hotel make it very private and tranquil. Beautiful spot.

Stayed at Ballyglass Country House hotel for 2 nights and couldn't have been more comfortable and relaxed. This hotel is an ideal base for exploring the Glen of Aherlow, the Rock of Cashel, Holy Cross Abbey and the south Tipperary area generally. First impressions, confirmed by experience, were that no reasonable request would be refused the guest on these premises.
Our room was not large but it had an ensuite, TV, tea/coffee, hairdryer etc. Importantly it was spotlessly clean and had lovely views of the garden and surrounds. The WiFi was a bit elusive in our room but easily accessible around the hotel.
There is a very cosy bar which is part of but separate from the hotel itself. This means that you can have a drink in comfort after a days sightseeing without having to have a designated driver or the expense of taxis. We had 2 delicious meals there from an extensive menu in a very friendly atmosphere.
Breakfast was cooked to perfection from a wide menu choice. Portions were as generous as you could ask for and laid down a great foundation for a vigorous days walking in the Glen of Aherlow.
The hotel is family run and it is obvious they know their stuff. Friendly, accommodating yet efficient & professional - not an easy combination to get right in my experience, but the Byrne family do it really well.
The whole package - premises, location, surroundings, accommodation, welcome, ambiance, cleanliness, cuisine, cost etc left us feeling very satisfied with our trip. It was our first visit to this part of Tipperary, but thanks to Ballyglass Country House it will certainly be on our list of places to re-visit.

What a wonderful evening we had at ballyglass. The warmth from the owners and the welcoming stove was wonderful. The food was exceptional in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We will be back.Ideal if you want a break from it all.

Went to the Glen of Aherlow walking festival 1st to 3rd of February Stayed at Ballyglass and had a wonderful weekend Drove in the driveway and was immediately impressed by the house A real country house!!!! Was met by RUTH at reception and felt so at home The house was beautifully decorated with lots of antique furniture in sympathy with the house RUTH brought us to our room which on first impression was small but totally adequate to our needs Bathroom small but again adequate with fresh towels each day and basic toiletries Tea making facilities with bottled water provided We were first to arrive and when my sister and her husband arrived we went to greet them and i felt like i lived there and was greeting my guests The bed was wonderfully comfortable with gorgeous rose patterned sheets My sisters room had a beautiful patchwork quilt which she took photos of to show people she was so impressed We had booked two nights B&B with one evening dinner and a packed lunch We had dinner on Friday night and it was gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We sat in the anteroom where we were given the menu and a glass of wine All four of us had starter main and dessert and not one complaint between us and that had nothing to do with the fact that we got a bottle of wine per couple included with the meal We went to the Forge Bar for a nightcap before retiring and sat by the log fed stove and looked at our maps etc and chatted to the locals Breakfast the following morning again was luvly The flasks were filled after being left at reception per instruction by RUTH The order for the packed lunch was again taken by Ruth the night before and was perfect A choice of brown or white with a selection of filling accompanied by a freshly made scone with butter and jam a piece of fruit and water or lucozade We arrived back at Ballyglass on Saturday evening after climbing GALTEE MOR and had a couple of drinks in The Forge bar Again a great atmosphere We had intended to go to the dinner organised by the festival but decided to eat at Ballyglass again as we had enjoyed it so much on Friday night Food was fab and finished the night again in the Forge Bar where we were the early retiree's at around 2am Great sing song with wonderful singers Great nights sleep with wonderful quietness Great breakfast and checkout with all our wet gear being returned after being dried over night in the "hot press" Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for RUTH

We stayed at Ballyglass House last weekend for the walking festival and what a welcome we received from Ruth and her family! Nothing was too much trouble, she even dried out our soaking gear after a long days walking in the mountains! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was to die for. The house itself is wonderful and we were made to feel more like valued family members than guests. We had some great meals in the newly decorated dining room and bar food was also available in the pub beside the house. We just could not recommend it highly enough - this really was "Ireland of the Welcomes" in action!!!!
