“Friendly family run B&B”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

The Ballyglass B&B is a nice, quaint hotel near the town of Tipperary. It is located a bit away from the town center so it is the ideal place if you want peace and quiet and a wonderful time surrounded by the sounds of nature. Simply fantastic. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. We arrived before the check in time and because we were so tired and jet lagged we thought we might give it a try and see if they could check us in earlier. To our surprise they did and it was the best because we could rest and then enjoy our stay. The house is a historic place so the room we stayed was a bit small and so was the shower ( they could upgrade the toilet paper, though). However, everything was clean and well organized, the bed was good and the whole room was neat, though small. The breakfast was excellent and made to order. The lady cooked it herself for us. You could choose a few options that included eggs and bacon, or fried fish, fried tomatoes and a full Irish breakfast for those very hungry. There was also plenty of fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, white and brown toast, jam and butter, coffee and tea and orange juice. They offer free wifi and at the beginning the wifi would work in our room but then they got us a small router and the connection then worked. One of the nights we stayed there they had an Irish night with the locals coming for a bit of music and dancing for a fundraising. There is also a pub on the premises. On a side note, for golfers there is a golf course nearby the B&B and for those who like to hike there is also a trail at about 5 minutes from the place. We indeed had a good time there and would recommend it for friends and family and would definitively stay there again.

Room Tip: I guess any room would be good because the B&B is located away from town and it is very quiet.

We were looking for a place to stay for one night while touring around Ireland. Using Tripadvisor I came across Ballyglass Country House just outside Tipperary. To start with, I was able to book online which made it very easy. The cost of the rooms was quite reasonable so we decided to give it a go. We're so glad we did! From the minute we walked in we were given a warm welcome. After checking out our rooms we went downstairs to look at the menus for the adjoining pub and dining room. We decided to eat in the pub and spent a great evening with good food and warm company. Ruth seems to run it all (with help from her granddad and husband).… the front desk, the dining room, taking food orders and serving in the pub. After a very good night's sleep we found Ruth waiting for us with a delicious, generous breakfast. If you're in the Tipperary area you really can't go wrong staying at Ballyglass Country House!

Had a most wonderful meal at the forge baldly glass yesterday. The steak was the best I have eaten in a long time, probably since I visited the forge last! I almost forgot to mention the wonder ful welcome and log fire.

On our way to the JFK Homestead Visitor Centre in Dunganstown, Co. Wexford which is only excellent and I would most certainly recommend a visit to everyone. We always look forward to going to Ballyglass House Hotel for the warm welcome we receive and the excellent choice of food which is top class. We have a full and hearty breakfast and everyone's tastes are catered for. The dinner menu and the choice has never failed to please my group of 55 people. We have been going to Ruth and and her family now for over six years when we are travelling that side of the country we most certainly will call for our meals. Thanx to Breda, John, Ruth and her husband, the little people Hannah & Sarah two darling little daughters and grandchildren to the family..

We enjoyed our stay here, the house is beautiful. Our welcome was warm, but our room a little chilly on arrival. The room was comfortable, the bathroom immaculate and the bedding was warm.
The Forge hotel attached to the house was lovely, a warm fire and small bar very inviting. Would have been nice to maybe open a little earlier for house guests. Dinner in the dining room was excellent, the setting beautiful, with lovely Christmas decor. Breakfast next morning just as good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

We went for dinner here on Saturday and I had to take time out to tell you all how fantastic it was. The place was buzzing with people which made the atmosphere amazing. Despite the amount of other people dining, they certainly didn't skimp on service, we were so well looked after and really felt that they couldn't do enough for us. The food was fantastic, expecially the chocolate brownie!!! After dinner we went into the pub part and played pool and could have quote happily stayed there all night. Definitely be back and will be recommending it!

This hotel knows how to make the business traveller feel at home. They do it effortlessly and each time I go back I thank goodness there are still hotels like this around. The welcome is always warm and the Guinness cold. One of my favourite hotels and I come back to it month after month.
