I received a very warm welcome at The Firs. The room was very clean and airy and the hosts friendly and helpful. The garden is a lovely place to relax in and the breakfast was 1st class too.

A real treat of a guest house. Hosts David and Esther are so helpful. Rooms are very comfortable, well equipped and clean. Stayed over the Hay festival. Right in the heart of the town, but quiet. Access to a large garden and conservatory.

Breakfasts are excellent with a wide range available.

Da Iawn! (for the uninitiated - Very good!)

Room Tip: All rooms are good!

Was this a great place to start a trek? Yes! We were really please to be able to start our walking trek on the northern section of Offa's Dyke Path this year at The Firs... Esther and David were very accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed the location, the breakfast, and a good night's rest before heading on!

Room Tip: If there isn't enough room for your group at the Firs, just ask, they'll get you hooked up l...

We had a family get together this weekend at the Firs taking in 5 rooms, just like previous reviews we found Esther & David excellent hosts.
They are a really friendly couple & made us all welcome from the minute we arrived, the rooms for all of us were brilliant, not one member of the family could find fault.
The beds are very cosy all rooms are en-suite, clean & comfortable, we would recommend this B & B to anybody, they have 6 rooms within the house & 1 annexe room outside, which is suitable for elderly couples who would struggle with stairs.
They appear to be popular as all 7 rooms were booked & as we left in the aftenoon we noticed that they had filled all the rooms again.
We found that the Blue Boar just a few yards to the right of the B &B is the best priced for your evening meals, there are also quite a few eating places for snacks during the day, The Granary being the best of them all, but beware of the dodgy chair outside, also beware of Esther's / David's cat, can be very friendly & fussy, then the next she will have your hand as i found out to my cost for sitting in her chair.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 & 3 are the best as you get a view of the Brecon hills & there lovely back garden.

Esther and David were lovely hosts who made sure we were comfortable and well looked after. As soon as we mentioned we needed a taxi, they organised it for us. I had expected that they would just give us a number so was delighted. They recommended good local hostelries for our evening meal and they were on the ball with their recommendations.
Breakfast was excellent, in particular the bacon which they said they sourced in Brecon.
The room was clean and comfortable. The only downside was that we had to have a twin room but this was because they were busy (a wedding in town) and I had left it late to book. The garden was also lovely and it was a pity we didn't have the weather to sit out in it.
The B and B is well placed close to all the book shops and has good parking.
I would whole heartedly recommend this B and B to anyone who wants a trouble free stay in Hay.

We stayed at the B+B for three days. It was a excellent choice for the stay. I would reccomend this place to anyone. Great value for money and well worth a stay. Excellently placed with on the town center. Easy walking distance to the shops.

Thank you for taking excellent care of you and the breakfasts were spot on, best fry up I have had in a long time.

We visisted Mr and Mrs Davies for a weeknend. We stayed at the firs while we attended a near by wedding. This is a family run business with a homely atmosphere. parking on site was ample. They were very accomodating with my dietry requirments as we have stayed in places before that did not appriciate my limited diet. They made are stay very enjoyable, we would recommend staying at the firs to anyone.

Thank You MR and Mrs Davies,

Pippa
