Just back from an excellent stay at outdoors@hay. We hired a bell tent which I feel was very reasonably priced because they provided everything that we needed for an enjoyable stay.. The girls also enjoyed all the activities that they did with Mike; he doesn’t just teach he made it fun and exciting for them. They can’t stop talking about it and for two 11 year olds girls that must be a good thing.
Everything was clean and to a high standard and they were always happy to help if we needed anything.
Thanks to you both and you will be seeing us again 

We stayed here after a disaster at Hollybush Camping down the road. Mick and his wife were very welcoming even though we hadn't booked and there were 12 of us. The showers and toilets were spotless and were kept clean throughout the weekend and there was a washing up area with cloths and detergent to use. They had a fire pit and wood which we hired very reasonably and they supply bricks so you can use disposable BBQ's off the grass.
The area was very quiet and peaceful and I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

We stayed here as a group of 12 - the owners are super friendly and the site is clean and tidy. The toilets and showers are kept clean and have music playing in them! We had an area in one of the fields to ourselves and the owners even set us up a fire pit! Great little site - would highly recommend..

Just come back from a fabulous weekend at Outdoors@hay. Mick and Sharon were fantastic hosts and were extremely helpful in organising our group stay. (28 adults 15 kids). Mick cooked a suckling pig for us Polynesian style buried in a fire pit. We also took a party of 21 down the river Wye in canoes. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Even by the occupants of the canoe that capsized three times!
The campsite facilities are some of the best I have come across in 35 years of camping and Glamping in a Tipi was an enchanting experience. This was our second camp there this year and we will return for more.

We stayed at Outdoors at Hay in April 2011 with friends and family. The camp site is extremely well run, neat and tidy with very nice showers and toilet block (I think at least 6 of each) with free piped music! There are 2 fields situated in the heart of the most beautiful scenery, close to Hay on Wye. On site the owners, Mick & Sharon run various activities including archery and bush craft and off site canoeing trips. You can book these as extras if you wish and they are chargeable activities. The kids did the archery and really enjoyed it, with Mick ensuring the highest level of safety. In the evening we all joined Mick for his free and informative night walk over the hill to use our night vision to see if we could spot any wildlife. The walk was actually more difficult and a bit longer than we anticipated and I wouldn't recommend it to families with very young children or people who are not fit as there are a lot of hills to climb and you need to keep up! Having said that though we did enjoyed it, especially as we didn't fall in the river in the dark. Mick and Sharon put on a big camp fires at night which is great to sit around and chat while you toast your marshmallows or have a beer. They know the area very well and recommended some great walks and pubs to us which we thoroughly enjoyed. There is also a little cafe/shop on site which is great for the kids. There is also somewhere for ladies to plug in their hair dryer/straighteners which is a big plus for me! The site is also dog friendly. Anyway, thoroughly recommend it and going back next week.

We stayed 4 nights in the smaller of their 2 permanently set up tipis. Great fun, really nice people on site, and for the duration of the Hay festival they run an excellent on site restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Hot dinner was superb food and excellent value and very friendly indeed.
I dont know what it's like the rest of the year but we have rebooked for May 2011
