“Central & cosy”

Location - The cottage is right in the centre of Hay, on a narrow side street. The advantage of this is that you can walk to everything in town within a few minutes, the disadvantage is that parking is very limited. We parked for most of our stay on the main car park in Hay at a cost of £1.50 a day if I recall. Neighbours on the street very kindly told us that they were away for a few days during our stay so we did have the advantage of a car parking spot outside the front door for a couple of days.

Cottage - Small, neat and comfortable. Ideal for a couple but may feel cramped with more than 2 adults. Very efficient central heating/hot water system. Lovely comfortable double bed but minimal hanging space for clothes. Functional kitchen but no microwave.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very cosy during a very cold spell. There is a Tapas bar on the next street and their smoking area/beer garden backs onto the road opposite the cottage. This was no problem for us (the temperature was averaging 1 degree when we were in Hay) but may generate some noise during the warmer months which could affect the front, twin bedded bedroom.

“It was centrally located, could walk to everything. Very quiet, quaint and clean.”

A nice weekend being right in town. We could walk to everything we planned to see. It was a pretty little stone cottage. It was not plush but perfect for our weekend away. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and dishes which was great to make a meal in one of the evenings. Parking is very tight in this little village. I was able to park out front in my large car. Fortunately, I did not have to move it all weekend. All and all very nice little place and great for 4 people.

Liked best: Proximity to center of town.
Liked least: Parking is very tight especially if you have a large vehicle as I do, but once I parked left it and was able to get where we needed on foot!

“A Cosy Base for a family break”
Reviewed 19 March 2012 for a stay in February 2012

We came from Ireland and disembarked the Ferry at Holyhead. Regardless of which way you come (either across North Wales and down to Hay or south along the Welsh coast and across south of Snowdonia) it's the guts of a four hour drive, without a pit stop. Having young children we stopped half way.

The cottage is lovely and right in the centre of town and was the perfect base to explore the region. Our youngest child is two so we brought a travel cot. There is a convenience store two minutes walk away who have fesh baked bread for sale in the mornings. If like us you have to meet the usual needs of young children, there is a supermarket (a Co-Op) not far from the cottage.

Hay itself is a lovely little town. The book shops are very cool and you spend hours every day wandering between them.

Liked best: Location
Liked least: I hadn't lit a fire for years. Although we had central heating we needed the fire - but it was February so no big deal really.
