“Another lovely stay in Hay,”

A repeat trip to the Seven Stars - and it really is a home from home! Warm and comfortable, spotlessly clean and a very tasty breakfast to set you up for the day. Di, the landlady, really makes it - it is like staying with your mates but without feeling guilty for not doing the washing up! My hot tip is to try the breakfast fruit compote - it is delicious (oops the secret's out!). My friend Ruth likes the kippers and I like the steady, cheerful flow of coffee! We had a family room at the top - very spacious and quiet. The swimming pool is an added bonus - and the car park is easily accessible.

Enjoyed spending a few nights here during my first trip to Hay-on-Wye. Good quality B&B-style accommodation, very friendly owner and ample breakfasts including lovely salmon and scrambled eggs. Tip: need to take your own hair dryer, if you feel the need to use one. Overall, liked the B&B atmosphere and was pleased to try out the excellent indoor pool. This was a perfect antidote to one particularly rainy day, in addition to perusing all the bookshops in Hay.

My daughter and I return each year to the Seven Sisters for the Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival in May/June. It is a lovely old (in the nicest possible way) B.and B with warm and comfortable rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfasts with lots of choice and the crowning glory - a wonderful pool and sauna. We prefer to stay at the back of the hotel with its lovely views over the valley and hope to enjoy its delights for many years to come.

I returned to the Seven Stars, mainly because I stayed there 30 years ago! How glad that I am to have done so. I had a lovely room at the front, with space, bedside tables and lamps on each side of the bed, a long mirror, enough wardrobe space and a very special bathroom. The bath tub was delightful, and although I am not an admirer of the hand held shower, on this occasion I was very happy indeed. The towels are a decent size, the heating is satisfactory and there was space for cosmetic bags etc. A book was safe on the side of the tub - another plus.

The 'posh' came in the chocolates and biscuits which were added to the generous portions of tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Oh, and the sticker on the toilet roll!

Breakfast was served over an hour, but the timing can be accommodated to particuar requests. From what I observed of the friendly efficient service on a busy morning it is unlikely that anyone has to wait for long for the hot breakfast or replenishment of beverages. The remainder of the breakfast comprised fruit, cereal and fruit juice.

The pool was delightful, just the right temperature.

The free wifi worked well.

One caution, I booked on line and you could be wise to approach the Seven Stars directly.

Room Tip: Ther eis a family room. However, a couple with an older child could also find the adjacent rooms beh...

A warm, comfortable b and b with good breakfasts. It is a little dated and the breakfast area could do with a bit of updating but our room was clean and spacious, though a source of heat in the bathroom would be a bonus. The pool and sauna were great, they really make this place. Friendly staff and overall a very good b and b.

Room Tip: Room 7 was a good size with a lovely view.

The Seven Stars is well situated in the Centre of Hay-on-Wye. I had travelled over from Germany and had a very warm welcome from the host Diane. Our bedroom was over looking the front and despite being on the main road, our room was quiet and we both slept well. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The room was comfortably warm and tea and coffee making facilities were provided. Liz cooked a superb breakfast in the morning and breakfasts offer plenty of choice. Central parking and a swimming pool were other amenities. The closeness to the river and beautiful walks make it an ideal location. We will be back.
