“A little gem....”
Reviewed 27 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We have just had a long weekend stay at this beautiful, quirky, basement apartment, firstly we we're warmly greeted by Johnny and given a tour of the apartment, it was spotlessly clean & warm, very light and airy feel and cleverly converted, the bed was super comfy.... with good quality bed linen, lots of storage, and the kitchenette was very functional for our short break, and we had everything we needed for light meals....you are just a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Hay, where you will find a good collection of individual...interesting, shops.

“Cosy,comfortable hideaway”
Reviewed 14 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

We had 2 nights in this lovely little apartment very near the town, 5 minutes walk and near the river. This cosy apartment has everything you need for a few days stay, a lovely big comfortable bed, good size lounge/kitchen/diner, and a garden to sit out on in nice weather. It was lovely in Feb so probably even lovelier in the warmer weather. We will return and take advantage of the walks in the summer. Lovely to be so close to the town which has wonderful quirky shops and gorgeous places to eat. Booths bookshop is an absolute must, you could spend the day in there? Also their lovely 48 seat cinema with great films to see is a must.

We let Johnny know we'd arrive late and he greeted us with a smile and helpful advice. Well appointed, clean accommodation that was well positioned for exploring Hay. We look forward to visiting again soon

We stayed in the appartment for 1 week. Could walk into town around the corner!
We had a very good time also the weather was nice.
The apartment is very well equipped and the tiny kitchen also appeared to work out well!
We can recommend the Three Tuns for a pint and dinner!

“Funky space over the bridge.”

We escaped from the city for bank holiday weekend. Loved this space, like us it is funky, fun and quirky. Doesn't feel like you are in a cellar as it has been converted into a light airy space. Bigger too than it looks here on the pics. Great to just step outside into the garden with the river the other side of the wall and only a few minutes walk up to the centre of Hay with great food on the doorstep no need really to cook. The owners are there but not there leaving you to indulge in privacy. We were met by their young son who very confidently welcomed us with a laid back approach. Happy days in Hay. Thank you.

“What a hidden gem!!”
Reviewed 4 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We went to Hay on Wye to attend our friends' wedding nearby. We absolutely loved the apartment. It is so unusual, quirky and homely. It's layout is so well thought out and is well equipped. It gives you lots of privacy, with the garden overlooking the river,, but is also just round the corner from the shops and cafes etc. we received a warm welcome from the owner Johnny, who had thoughtfully provided milk, tea, coffee. Wished we had stayed longer!

“Nice with little faults”

The appartment ist nice, comfy, clean and really spacious (which was comfortable after staying in several tiny location.) It is well equipped (hairdryer, bath tub ...), only the cooking possibilities are limited: There are two hobbs and there is no larger pot to cook noodles for instance. The garden is romantic but there is a lot of traffic at the bridge beside - at least on a weekday. In general it was a pleasant stay, the disadvantages are not substantial and I can recommend this place.

Liked best: It was spacious, clean, well equipped, nice furniture.
Liked least: The kitchen could be better equipped (larger cooking pot, better knifes). The garden was rather noisy, and during daytime it's not too bright in the basement.
