I've just come back from a great weekend in Buxton staying at Stonebridge.
The house is really well appointed, bang in the middle of Buxton, with parking for four cars, what's not to like.
The four double bedrooms are all on the first floor, with the added bonus that they all have an ensuite.
The beds were very comfortable, and the house although large, was warm and welcoming. It was literally a 5 minute walk to the opera house.
A great base to have a good time from. We didn't need to use the cars at all.
What a delightful experience!! The room was very clean and well decorated (family room) there was a good selection of teas and coffee available in the room, this is really nice to see as most other b&b's have your norm breakfast tea and nescafe coffee which are really quite dull. The owners were very accommodating as we have a five year old, it's surprising that there isn't more b&b's that accept five year olds into family rooms. The breakfast was very good with a very good range on offer, they were also prepared to do child portions in whatever our child wanted. Stone Ridge is ideally situated near the town center, only about a five mins walk. In all a very good weekend away, would definately recommend this b&b and will certainly stay there again when we are next in Buxton. Well done Stone Ridge!!
We received a friendly greeting at this quiet bed and breakfast, which is located 5 minutes walk from the centre of Buxton. We stayed in the family room which provided plenty of space, good storage and a reliable wi-fi connection. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, ample and very tasty.
However the real star of the business was Hamish, the owners' small, elderly dog. As Lord of the Manor, he assumed guests were there to open the front door to him and rub his belly.
We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone staying in Buxton.
The house is large and comfortable. Our room was smallish for 2, tiny bath, but well- appointed with everything one might need. Large lounge available to guests, but we also liked the seating area in upstairs hall which was comfy and warm. Breakfasts were delicious, with many choices. We had eggs and smoked salmon one morning, an alternate that had to be requested the night before.
Location is very convenient to shopping and eating areas as well as several walks in the countryside.
We were nicely welcomed by Andrew and the dogs. The rooms were very nice, smartly decorated. Rooms have a tv (small one), kettle with various drinks and free wifi. Shampoo / showergel etc were provided in the bathroom.
In the hall there are plenty brochures about the area.
We needed to change the feather pillows / duvet - this was no trouble for the owners.
The breakfast is served between 07.45-08.45. You get a nice selection of cereals and fresh fruit. You also choose between different cooked breakfasts. We only had the Stoneridge (full english breakfast) which was absolutely delicious and more than enough to see us through to dinnertime. The produce came from local suppliers and you can taste the quality.
Personally I would like to have a bit longer bed, but I managed fine.
The hosts made us feel welcome and ready for a chat, but were never intrusive.
The B&B is located near the towncentre which has many nice restaurants and bars. It is also a good base for walking in the Peak District.
Claire and Andrew (and dogs!) were perfect Hosts, welcoming us into their home, with its tasteful black and white themed décor. The room was beautifully arranged and the range of tea, real coffee and hot drinks in the room was most welcome. Beds were very comfortable...white bath robes for both of us and a warm room but we could turn the heat off to sleep. PERFECT!!!
I would recommend this B&B and hope to stay there again in the future. The breakfast was superb and the bacon...absolutely perfect. Thank you Claire and Andrew for making our stay so enjoyable.
