“Phew! Big and beautiful”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Yes, I had the big Buxton breakfast and it certainly lived up to its name. Superb fry-up which sustained me all through a day's hiking. My wife had nicely poached eggs on toast and we both had delicious orange juice - mine even had a pip in it. Could it have been freshly squeezed? Friendly service and highly recommended.

“Excellent home made food”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Great little independent cafe in the centre of buxton. Home made pea and mint soup was out of this world, and my son said that the bacon bap was the best ever not to mention his hot chocolate! Did not try the cakes but they looked delicious! So nice to find somewhere offering something different to the chain cafe's. It's a small snug little cafe with some seating outside.

“S'alright”
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

Went here today. We were looking for something nice to get a tea, coffee and light morning snack, that had reasonable outside seating (as we had our dog with us).

This place seemed ok and was fairly good value - not ridiculously overpriced.

2 issues with our experience. The first was that I got served my coffee in a mug that had lipstick on it. The lipstick wiped off first time, which really demonstrates that the mug hadn't been cleaned properly.

Secondly, the wait. We ordered 3 toasted tea cakes, that took about 10 minutes before they were served. There was only 1 other table with customers and they had already been served when we got there. My wife had finished her coffee before we were served our food. Although the waitress did apologise when she served us ("we only have a small grill")' it may have been better to tell the customers that when they order.

“Snug Cafe”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Cafe serving a good range of drinks/home made cakes and meals. Cafe is quite small, not many tables but this adds to its charm. There are a few tables outside but not sure I would want to sit next to quite a busy road. Service was very good, smiles from the staff which is always nice to see.
