“Best food in Buxton.”

Excellent specials here every time we visit, food is fresh and well prepared. Service is laid back and efficient. Without a doubt the best restaurant in Buxton.

“A Night out with Vampires”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013 via mobile

We found this restaurant via Tripadvisor. Do not be fooled by the photo of the front of the restaurant, it is great in real life with a great Swiss feel to the interior with a lovely stain glass ceiling. We would recommend you go upstairs.
The food was great and you will not starve. The staff where very attentive. Another good example of how a restaurant should be.
As this restaurant is so close to Buxton's Opera house, it is the perfect place for your pre Opera meal (We wen't to see Vampire Rock for by birthday).

“helpful staff and good Italian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

It was a busy Saturday night and since we had no reservation were rather pleased to be fitted in (we had to vacate the table by 7.30 which was fine by us). The pre-theatre menu was limited but adequate and the soup I had was really tasty (aubergine and something) and better than expected. My wife's pizza was good (margherita with 2 toppings of choice), my pasta was a mixture of pastas with a spicy sausage and cream sauce, really good and I couldn't finish it. The piece de resistance was the grappas and I recommend that if you have the time and a head for strong alcohol you should try them all.

“Mixture of good and bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

Two of us went in for the 'Pre-theatre menu' at 5pm but as someone has said there is a very poor choice of food on it if you don't want pizza. We decided to go instead for the a la carte - my lasagne was tasty enough and my friend enjoyed her porcini risotto. We found the cheaper 'starter' options for these were adequate along with the decent-sized portions of mixed salad we ordered to accompany them. The mineral water was ridiculously over-priced but wine reasonable. Chocolate fudge cake was OK but the tiramisu was dreadful - just a dish of cream with a couple of small pieces of sponge, worst I have EVER had in my life. Service was speedy enough but staff could have been friendlier, I thought.
