“Weekend at Chatsworth”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

Stayed at the Jug and Glass great name for two nights. Got a very nice welcome on arrival and shown to a very nice room.
Rommel was clean and bed very comfortable and a decent size bedroom, we ate in the restaurant both nights and the first night the food was good, basic pub grub but good value for money, second night not so good, we were asked to go through to our table because a big party was expected but were then left waiting for some time before a young waitress arrived, I can only assume that she was new as any questions asked about the food she just looked blank, shame really because this is a nice place, needs some attention to staff training but it is a place I will return to. Good rooms and value for money,

This is our second visit to this lovely inn and as before we received a hearty welcome. It is ideally situated as a base for exploring Derbyshire in easy reach of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton. The lovely Goyt Valley and Carsington Water are fairly close by. The rooms are clean, well thought out and relatively quiet considering the proximity to a main road - maybe the 17th century thick stone walls help! The meals are typical pub fare, well prepared with fresh ingredients and served with a smile, of decent quality and quantity, and not overpriced into the bargain.

Janette and her staff looked after us very well (unfortunately Frank is unwell at present) and nothing was too much trouble. The steak nights are really good.

Go for a few days or longer and you won't regret it.

Selected Jug and Glass for its posiiton within easy reach of great walks and lovely towns.

Really enjoyed the stay, room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Tea, coffee, biscuits all waiting for me.The view from the window towards the Tissington Trail was a welcome suprise. Good car park and an entrance that was seperate to the bar available meant it didn't matter when you came and went.

Staff were brilliant, welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere in the bar in the evenings was just what you would expect, we seemed to talk to everyone.

The food superb. Home made and huge portions. Wide selection all freshly cooked. recomend the home made chips. The second night I had salmon and potatoes all was really fresh.

I will go back and have no hesitation recomending the Jug and Glass to anyone looking for a high quality break in the Peaks.

We had a pleasant overnight stay at the Jug and Glass inn while attending an old friends birthday party. The Inn is as you would expect an old coaching Inn, with amodern extention on the rear housing the bed and breakfast accommodation. The room we were given was excellent with everything we required provided and views looking over the beautiful countryside. I cannot fault the breakfast which was served by a very efficient waitress.
All in all a very pleasant overnight stay

Arrived on a very hot Friday afternoon was greeted by the owner Janette very friendly and genuine.

After been shown to our room we ventured to the bar and ordered some lunch, two smoked salmon and prawn salads washed down with some excellent cider.

Our room was well decorated and with a very large comfy bed.

We ate in the restaurant on two nights and really enjoyed all that was put before us.

I can recommend the Guinness and Tobermoray Whiskey!

The only downside was the noisy road but Janette cannot do much about that.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back away from the road

My Wife and I stayed for one night. We arrived at 1415 hours and were greeted by Janette, the proprietor and her excellent team of willing waitresses and bar staff. We had a wonderful stay and were made to feel very special. The whole experience was a real treat. Thank you all so much.
We will definitely be staying there again. The location is also a bonus, with wonderful views.
