“Excellent stop off!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Stopped for evening meal on the way through to Sheffield from Lancashire, after having to take a detour from the motorway! So glad we did, we were amongst 6 or 7 groups of people waiting to get through the door when it opened for the evening at 6pm. One of which had been for lunch and was coming back for more! Fabulous choice all looked great, home cooked chips were a winner with the kids and everything on the menu tasted like it was home cooked, would definately go back when passing ( actually make a point of going by!!)

We've not been up to the jug for a long time as we had a few inconsistent meals in the past but I'm very glad we called in for lunch today. We chose to have cottage pie and steak and stilton pie served with veg and chips. The portions were more than ample sized, the chips were lovely as were the tasty fresh vegetables. Service was polite and even the chef smiled when she walked past. We'll definitely be returning soon.

this is the second time we have stayed here and it was not a let down again. The rooms are comfortable and clean and we had a wonderful view over the countryside. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. Food is excellent especially the hearty breakfast which could last you all day. Some very pretty villages around within a short distance. Would definately recommend this inn.

Just got back from a fab meal at this pub. They appeared to close at 3 pm but stayed open until we left at 4 pm. Hosts are great. Just have a laugh and they join in and chill. Food was great and requests for slightly off menu was accepted without query. Live this place as we stay local with the caravan, yet both us and the dog were so welcome. We invited friends to stay local and they had B&B here and loved it. Food it so fulfilling and welcoming. For those who had problems please be aware that phone signal is crap in this area and proper organisation is required.

We spent two nights at the Jug and Glass before travelling on yo the lakes. Its very well situated for exploring the Peak district. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was ideal for two of us and a dog - well proportioned with a small but modern bathroom. Evening mess were very good value, with lots of veggie options. We had a very pleasant stay.

We had a drive around the Derbyshire dales today and happened across this pub/inn, we enjoyed an exceptional meal of roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding with fresh well cooked veg, very generous helping of superb beef and very friendly staff , what more could you want ?

Room Tip: We didn't stay there but would imagine it would be a very hospitable place to stay .The surround...
