We booked for a short stay, whilst touring from top to Bottom through the Peak District Countryside, (Telegraph recommended tour in the paper) We took what they called a Junior Suite, room 8, apparently they have two of them, we did this because the hotel was nearly fully booked when we booked it a couple of months ago. Very popular with walking parties, I understand.
The suite turned out to be fantastic, very modern spacious, three rooms 2 televisions, very modern ensuite, overall very comfortable, if you can afford it, it comes highly recommended, by us. (Costing just a touch over £150.00p per night).
The Hotel was very old, rather like Buxton itself, and although our suite was very modern, a lot of the Hotel rooms, that we saw were spacious, but old fashioned.
Lounge and dinning room excellent decor, we had a window table for dinner, which was very good.
The food in the Hotel dinner and breakfast, was excellent, the food quality could not be questioned, it was very good right down to the coffee.
The only problem was the service, which was sadly lacking on the night, (short on numbers) for the time, that we were there, and room service, was the same.
Because they had a coach party in, and also a seperate party of ten people, other dinners like us dinning privately in twos etc, had to wait to get served, with all courses right throughout the evening.
This spoilt it for us, which is a shame, because they had so much going for them.
But overall, taking all into consideration, if you are in Buxton there are a lot of Hotels in this Spa Town, but this one, is worth a try, do go for the Suite No 8, it is well with the money believe me.
