“Overall Very Good Venue (In Buxton)”
Reviewed 24 May 2013

We booked for a short stay, whilst touring from top to Bottom through the Peak District Countryside, (Telegraph recommended tour in the paper) We took what they called a Junior Suite, room 8, apparently they have two of them, we did this because the hotel was nearly fully booked when we booked it a couple of months ago. Very popular with walking parties, I understand.
The suite turned out to be fantastic, very modern spacious, three rooms 2 televisions, very modern ensuite, overall very comfortable, if you can afford it, it comes highly recommended, by us. (Costing just a touch over £150.00p per night).
The Hotel was very old, rather like Buxton itself, and although our suite was very modern, a lot of the Hotel rooms, that we saw were spacious, but old fashioned.
Lounge and dinning room excellent decor, we had a window table for dinner, which was very good.
The food in the Hotel dinner and breakfast, was excellent, the food quality could not be questioned, it was very good right down to the coffee.
The only problem was the service, which was sadly lacking on the night, (short on numbers) for the time, that we were there, and room service, was the same.
Because they had a coach party in, and also a seperate party of ten people, other dinners like us dinning privately in twos etc, had to wait to get served, with all courses right throughout the evening.
This spoilt it for us, which is a shame, because they had so much going for them.
But overall, taking all into consideration, if you are in Buxton there are a lot of Hotels in this Spa Town, but this one, is worth a try, do go for the Suite No 8, it is well with the money believe me.
Paul and Joan Bennett

Room Tip: Do Take the Junior Suite No 8 if it is available.

Thank You for taking the time to leave your comments on Trip Advisor. We really appreciate your comments and are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We apologise on this occasion that you felt that service was slow for your dinner, I have passed this across to the restaurant team and they will ensure that in the future more staff are working when the hotel has groups dinning with residents. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again very soon.

Yours Sincerely

We celebrated our 1st Anniversary here and it was lovely. Room, Food and staff were excellent. There was a problem with the kettle but was replaced straight away. Hotel was on a hill but is in walking distance to the town. Would definately stay here again if re-visit the area.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise to find after a long day of travel from France. We were so happy to be welcomed and told that anything we needed was available to make our stay comfortable. Every staff member we dealt with from the check in, bar and room service was overly friendly and accommodating. We ordered some sandwiches and fries for a late night snack and they were fresh and delicious. The rooms were very large and had loads of room for visiting with five friends. The washrooms were bright, clean and the tub was huge. Towels were white and fresh - everything you'd want to enjoy a hot bath at the end of a long journey.

Next mornings breakfast was delicious. Generous servings for a great price.

We didn't get a chance to visit in Buxton but the drive from the Manchester airport was spectacular with rolling views. The town was quaint and obviously a destination for the UK residents.

We'd recommend this hotel as a first stop off the plane. You'll appreciate the warmth and friendliness of the town, hotel and the staff.

Room Tip: The single bed was a king. The room was huge with loads of room for visiting.

We stayed in a room in an outbuilding which was lovely. Very spacious and great for our puppy. The hotel was dog friendly. The staff were helpful and breakfast was great. I would suggest thou that the hotel maybe put some signs out to say where room 41 is from the car park.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your comments on Trip Advisor. We are very happy to see that you and your puppy enjoyed your stay with us! The reception staff walk any guests in the Annex to their room on arrival to show them where it is, I am sorry if this did not happen with yourself and I will ensure all the staff continue to do this to prevent anyone not knowing where the rooms are. We hope to welcome you back to the hotel again very soon.

Just spent 2 nights at the Lea Wood Hotel In Buxton. We were given a spacious front facing room with lovely outlook. Good firm bed with good pillows. Ate in the restaurant both nights and found the food very good with lovely presentation at a good price. On first night hubbies lamb was quite under cooked. He liked it, I would have sent it back but that is the only criticism. Breakfasts were very good with excellent service. All three ladies and two gents who served us were very pleasant, very attentive and nice with it! The conservatory where the food is served is a very bright, airy and nice open space to eat in. Reception staff went out of their way to help and always went the extra mile to ensure everything was okay.
For a 3* hotel we thought it ticked all the boxes. We would happily go back and probably will!

Room Tip: Join the Best Western Club which gives you an upgrade if hotel can do it. Front rooms had a lovely...

We stayed for 2 nights with our dog in early May & could'nt fault the place. The food was excellent and all the staff we encountered were friendly and could'nt do enough for you
(especially Kyle who went out of his way to make us feel welcome)
The room was spacious, clean & we found the beds comfortable.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking at stopping in Buxton as it is also in a good location & just a short walk into the centre.

A clean and comfortable hotel with very friendly staff, really good breakfast in a light and airy conservatory dining area (can't believe one reviewer says it is 'dark'.) Decor is patterned carpet and candelabras to suit the style of the building rather than modern chic, but large rooms, a comfortable bed and a good view from the window (had a room at the front) . Well-equipped, even an iron and ironing board. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.
Note - the hotel is uphill a little from the town, but most places are up or down hill in and around Buxton.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the bowling green for a nice view

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your comments on Trip Advisor. We are really glad to see you enjoyed your stay with us and that you liked the Conservatory. You are quite right in saying we are in a hilly part of the world but we are really lucky to have lots of local taxi companies willing to drive you back up the hill! We look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.
