“A fabulous place to stay”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out we had a wonderful experience at the hotel. The room was very spotless and it was lovely to know the name of the person cleaning it - we even had a space on a card to add any messages we wanted to leave. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and came with a great shower. I loved the 2 different light systems available in the bathroom. My only slight quibble with the room was that I had to ask for fruit tea bags as none were available in the room, however one quick phone call to reception and I had a good selection within 5 minutes.
All the staff in the hotel are excellent and treat every customer with respect and utmost courtesy. I was especially impressed by Alex and the Maitre D. Their service was exceptional.
The food in the hotel is fantastic. Plentiful cooked breakfasts with creamy scrambled eggs. A good range of continental fare too, the waiter service was very efficient. We had a meal in the hotel one evening and were very impressed with the range and quality. Again fantastic waiter service.
Buxton was a lovely place to base our stay with plenty to do both in the town and out and about. Just be warned that the 2 main chip shops in the upper part of Buxton do shut at 8pm. We were just too late one evening.
During the last day of our stay the hotel was hosting a wedding. Both my husband and I felt that the wedding in no way impinged on our stay and even though there was a live band we were unable to hear it from our room even with the windows open.
Hope to have the pleasure of staying there again.

From initially booking our wedding to checking out of the hotel the morning after Rebecca and the whole team were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble.

All of our guests had delicious meals with various dietary requirements catered for including there being gluten free food available for me at breakfast the next morning as well as when it had been specifically requested at the meal.

Our room was the cleanest I have ever seen a hotel room with added extra touches like the water glasses being wrapped up to keep them clean. The shower was lovely and warm and really powerful.

I would thoroughly recommend the Lee Wood for a special occasion or an overnight stay.

Room Tip: We had room 6 which is a suite with a really comfy sofa and plenty of room to spread out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at The Lee Wood Hotel. The reception staff were particularly warm, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was excellent ,the rooms very clean and the location perfect for walking to the attractions in Buxton. The hotel is very quiet at night as the back of the hotel looks onto a quiet road and the front onto the lovely grounds of the hotel. The hotel sits on a hill overlooking The Park,a quiet, tree lined location near the Opera .

A lovely hotel in excellent condition, very nice decor and friendly staff. Would happily stay here again. Unfortunately the bed was incredibly hard, so I did not sleep too well. I would bring a topper if I return!

My husband and I only stayed for one night, when we arrived the staff where extremely friendly.
Our room was lovely and clean. We had a slight problem with the toilet as the flush did not work, we reported it at reception and it was fixed immediately.
Breakfast in the morning was very nice with lots of choice. Would defiantly come back for a longer stay and recommend to others.

We stay in a Best Western Hotel every year for our Anniversary and are so glad we chose the Leewood Hotel for this year it was brilliant from check in to check out, and being card holders we got an upgrade to a junior suite, (room 8),which put the icing on the cake. The Hotel was easy to find and had plenty of parking spaces at the front and rear, and was only 5 minutes walk into Buxton either through the Pavillion Gardens or the main road. We always use our Tesco vouchers to pay for the stay and usually 1 meal out, this year at Pizza Express as the choice to use them in Buxton was a bit limited. On our Anniversay we ate in the restaurant at the Hotel, we reserved a table in the conservatory dining room by the window, all the staff at the bar and restaurant we so helpful and friendly, they made us very welcome and we felt so relaxed. The food was yummy, we had seared scallops to start, I had the sea bass and hubby had the belly pork, then finished off with a cheese board all washed down with a bottle of prossecco, couldn't be better, our compliments to the chefs. The breakfast was very good too, helping yourself to fruit, cereals etc, then your cooked breakfast is made to order and you can choose what you do and don't want on it from scrambled, poached or fried eggs to black pudding and fried bread, they also had Derbyshire oak cake with bacon and cheese which hubby said was delicious.
We walked through the pavillion gardens and went to the Opera House but unfortunately there was nothing on we wanted to see but we went in and had a look around it was beautiful. Buxton itself is a smallish town with the usual shops and pubs very pleasant to walk around, we had a drink in the oldest pub up in the Market Square, which seems to be a tradition now wherever we go. We also went to Chatsworth house, which is only 17 milies away and so worth a visit, the gardens and house cost £18.00 per person, we were there for 5 hours, it was stunning and the sun was shining so it was full of people having picnics.
We will definitely be recommending the Leewood to our friends and would not hesitate to stay there again, and once again thanks to all the staff for making our Anniversary special.
