Lovely lovely place . Warm and welcoming. Staff very helpful. Changed our room with no fuss because of noisy air conditioning unit . Second room bigger but no extra charge.nice bathroom.
Restaurant meal FABULOUS and YUMMY ! Unhurried relaxed atmosphere.
Nice ambience with the references to mary queen of Scots. Great location for seeing the town and opera house. Only few minutes drive to Poole s cavern and country park. Perfect quiet relaxed getaway break . . . I can't wait to go again. Fantastic value for money if you have the winter warmer offer .

I had my 50th party in the orchestra pit 9/11/2013. Staff were absolutely fantastic and food was plentiful and tasted great. An amazing venue. Thanks to Amy and all the team for making my night so memorable and thanks so much to the staff who stayed late and remained cheerful despite the early hours of the morning. Would highly recommend the venue for future functions
Best wishes Elaine and Tim

Room tip: we didnt stay but our friends loved the history of the hotel and staff were great

Just love returning to this friendly hotel. The hotel is in a prime location, the food is excellent, the rooms are spacious and grand. But above all the staff are lovely, they are young enthusiastic and eager to please, and they all give a genuine smile. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable.

Room tip: Book early if you want food the evening you arrive, because obviously the Rooster bar,and restaurant are very popular.

we stayed overnight at the old hall hotel in buxton, derbys., on sunday 24th nov 13, we stayed in the best room, mary's bower 4 poster room. room was lovely however the bathroom was really cold, too cold to have a bath or shower! there was a heated towel rail which was on when we arrived but it was inadequate for the size of the bathroom and there was no other heater. the bedroom itself was lovely. went down to the dining room in the morning for breakfast and the service was really poor, the staff unfriendly and really slow even though there seemed to be more staff than guests in the dining room! However, the food was excellent. wouldn't go back

Room tip: dont stay in the mary's bower bedroom in winter as the bathroom so so cold and don't eat in the restaurant as staff unfriendly and poor service (that was at breakfast)
