“Great place”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

It's a little quirky and delightfully different. It claims to be the oldest hotel in Britain and I can believe it.
What makes the place so good is the friendliness of the young staff. We had lunch in the wine bar, which was fine and dinner in the restaurant also fine.
Our room was well appointed with a comfortable bed and good size bath. All in all a pleasant stay.
It's worth a stay for the breakfast with everything freshly cooked to order and served at the table. First rate.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a classic room

We got an excellent Fizzing Friday deal in the Old hallHotel in Buxton: a bottle of prosecco in the room and a two-course dinner for two, for just £20 above the normal B & B price. Staying right in the heart of Buxton within a couple of minute's walk from the Opera House and Pavilion Gardens it was a lovely stay ina good-sized room..

Booked an overnight winter warmer break. Really enjoyed the stay in the Old Hall hotel. Had bed, breakfast and evening meal. Good service and good food. Very comfortable twin room. We noticed a four poster room which we will book next time. Highly recommend the hotel which is very central and next to the Opera House and Pavilion gardens.

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook the courtyard so ask for a room with a view. We overlooked the Pavilion gardens

Excellent location to Opera House, Pavillion and gardens and an easy walk to Poole's Cavern and Go Ape. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and were a credit to the hotel, Room was very warm and welcoming and the history of the place was fascinating. Lovely lovely place . Warm and welcoming. Staff very helpful. Changed our room with no fuss because of noisy air conditioning unit . Second room bigger but no extra charge.nice bathroom.
Restaurant meal FABULOUS and YUMMY ! Unhurried relaxed atmosphere.
Nice ambience with the references to mary queen of Scots. Great location for seeing the town and opera house. Only few minutes drive to Poole s cavern and country park. Perfect quiet relaxed getaway break . . . I can't wait to go again. Fantastic value for money if you have the winter warmer offer .

I had my 50th party in the orchestra pit 9/11/2013. Staff were absolutely fantastic and food was plentiful and tasted great. An amazing venue. Thanks to Amy and all the team for making my night so memorable and thanks so much to the staff who stayed late and remained cheerful despite the early hours of the morning. Would highly recommend the venue for future functions
Best wishes Elaine and Tim

Room Tip: we didnt stay but our friends loved the history of the hotel and staff were great
