My first visit to Buxton and my stay at the Old Hall Hotel, both a real treat. My room was large and extremely comfortable. As you read the translation of the window writing by Mary Queen of Scots and others you are made aware of the history of the place. Situated almost opposite the Buxton Opera House, I took in a concert and had a nightcap in one of the charming reception rooms at the Hotel. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: I had a room overlooking the Slopes and it was lovely to sit in the window.

The Old Hall is ideally placed for an overnight stay, following a visit to Buxton Opera House. Pre theatre meals are available in the restaurant or wine bar. The hotel is charming and the staff extremely helpful and courteous. It was lovely to be served breakfast, freshly cooked, rather than the usual buffet style arrangement in most hotels these days. The rooms especially those overlooking 'The Slopes' are lovely and spacious. Car parking is available at a reasonable rate immediately outside the hotel. Our pre theatre meal was good but unfortunately the rump steak was a little on the tough side. Having said that it did not detract from a lovely meal with a window seat to watch the world go by. Drinks are available in the wine bar after the Theatre and I am pleased to say a choice of real ale is on offer. The pint of 'Doombar' was excellent! All in all 'The Old Hall' is a must if you are staying in Buxton.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking 'The Slopes' (park).

I stayed at the hotel this weekend whilst attending a wedding. The hotel and staff could not have been more perfect. The wedding breakfast, and indeed the breakfast in the morning were absolutely delicious.

Nothing was too much trouble and we wanted for nothing.

I stayed in a Four poster room on the first floor. Comfy bed, beautiful views of the pavilion gardens, fluffy towels. Perfection!

We brought our little dog with us, the staff fussed over her and made her so welcome. Being so close to the park makes it perfect for dog walks too.

Would recommend to anyone!

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a four poster. Perfect location for a wedding too!

We stayed here for a wedding in November and absolutely loved our bedroom - Room 30. The bed was the comfiest i have ever stayed in. The breakfast was first glass and we found all the staff to be soooo lovely, helpful and friendly! I will definitely return to this hotel for a short break.

Just returned from a two night stay at the Old Hall. It is the first time we've stayed in a hotel with our dog and so we're quite nervous. We've stayed in lots of self catering holiday cottages over the years which have claimed to be dog friendly, and then we've arrived with been faced with a list of rules. The Old Hall is vey different. From the moment we stepped through the door all three of us were made to feel extremely welcome. Our room was lovely, with a very comfy bed, great bathroom and plenty of space for our dog's bed. The breakfasts were amazing, lots of choice and we were allowed to sit in the lounge with our dog and eat food ordered from the wine bar menu in the evening. Every member of staff we met was cheerful and keen to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. What a fantastic experience - we'll definitely be back

We are a dog friendly hotel and only ask that dogs do not go in the Wine Bar or Restaurant where we serve food but guests are more than welcome to enjoy meals in the front lounges that overlook the Pavilion Gardens. The hotel is really well located near the key places in the town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy - not big but OK. The breakfast was very good, catering for all requirements (eg prunes and Natural yoghurt as well as full english with good quality bacon and sausages. Not the cheapest place but a fair price and we were happy.
