“Quirky”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

Although difficult to access for some, as the museum lies on a hill, it has a disabled access and lifts upstairs. The Art exhibits are delightful and the array of artefacts and history very interesting. A lovely place to visit when sheltering from the rain!

“Approach with caution”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

This was an interesting museum but was a bit spoilt by the amount of children who were misbehaving. The exhibits were interesting but if you stopped to look at something you were barged out of the way by either a child or a parent. I sat in a chair in the main foyer to wait for my friends and just watched a family group at the desk, a boy of about 3 was merrily putting small gem stones in his mouth and a small toddler went to go out of the main door which is straight on to the main street. Both mother and grandmother were oblivious. It was half term week but it did spoil the visit. I understand that children have to feel comfortable but surely not at the expense of other tourists.

“Love this place!”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

This place has had a special place in my heart since I was a little girl and I still love visiting it now! It is a tiny place really, but gosh what treasures there are to find inside! A wonderful mix of museum displays that span millennia and gallery space. The gallery displays are always changing and exhibit pieces from local schools, local artists as well as professional individuals. The bear in the cave is one of my favourite things as well as the archaeological remains in the following room that covers the fascinating prehistoric burial mounds so prevalent in the surrounding area! This is a wonderful treat for old and young alike and a great little place for everyone. I highly recommend this gem if you have an interest in the past and an appreciation for all that is historical and artistic!

“Interesting.”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

The museum gives a good display of the areas, history and geology and is a good wet afternoon location, shame it does not have a café.
