“Great day,wet night.”
Reviewed 15 August 2013

I stayed here with my Family and my cousins Family on the 4/08/13 and we found it to be a great little site.
We arrived on Sunday and had our pick of the pitches for our 2 family tents. The pitches are on a lawned area with plenty of trees that provide shelter from the wind.
We pitched our tents and the kids were able to play in safety all day long. They were able to run around the entire site as it was fairly quiet. There was plenty of things to keep them occupied i.e. wide open spaces, trees, woods, animals.
The facilities for campers are fine. The toilet block was brand new and spotlessly clean. There were plenty of electric hook-ups if you needed them. We were allowed to have a campfire as long as we protected the grass underneath which was great as we toasted marshmallows for the kids when it got dark!!
The lawned area we pitched on was perfect, right in the corner by a stone wall close to some trees.
The only negative I could say is that the campsite owner, although a thoroughly welcoming person, was driving his ride on lawnmower all day while we were there. Seriously he was cutting grass for about 4 or 5 hours which made a racket while we were trying to relax. I thought this could have waited until midweek when the site was empty.
But this was a minor inconvenience given that we had such a good time on our short stay.
One tip for future campers is that when you wake up and its pouring with rain get your clan together and get down to the local Morrison's restaurant for a hot breakfast. Its close to the site and is cheap, hot and lovely.
A lovely site, well worth a trip.

Stayed here for only one night, booked on reviews read here. Wasn't disappointed. Very clean room and loved the bathroom, which was huge! Excellent breakfast and very quiet location. Shame we only stayed for one night as it was a special treat after a visit to the Denby factory. Would like to return with the children.

This was our fourth visit to the Peak District and the first time we want to go back to the same B&B! The rooms are lovely and spacious, and I love the fact that you get your own front door in some of the rooms. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and bend over backwards to be of service. The breakfast was pretty spectacular and sharing a table on some mornings allows for interesting conversations. They also cater for different dietary requirements, and the coffee (including the fresh ground decaf) is wonderful! The location is fantastic and the scenery lovely, and the little 'petting farm' is a nice touch. All in all a memorable experience, and certainly one we would like to repeat!

Room Tip: Do try the Derbyshire oatcake at breakfast: definitely recommended!

I went here on a recommendation but while it was okay, I've stayed in better places for less. The bathroom is TINY. No turning room and as you bent to do your teeth you were in danger of pushing open the door. Couldn't dry yourself once you'd stepped out the shower. The room is good size in comparison. Service needs improving. I went to use the residents bar and despite hearing staff clearly chatting about non-work stuff, no one came out to see me. I watched the tortoises scrambling in the vivarium, containing no water or food. The cardboard box provided for shade meant they couldn't get past and use the full extent of their home. After no response from staff after several minutes I wandered back outside and returned to my room.
Breakfast in the morning was decent enough, just had to request a fork and butter on my table - wasn't the only one either. Service isn't exactly fast and the cereal is geared towards children.
Overall while the room was a reasonable size, very clean and staff were polite, it plays on its location within the peak district. Next time I will stay somewhere closer to a town which provides food and enough room in the bathroom to swing a toothbrush!

I have stayed at Staden a few times now and have had great experiences each time! If its Walking, Cycling, relaxing, or even playing with the odd Donkey, Staden is in the perfect place for it all. The breakfasts are great and the staff are extremely friendly. It is run by a family and their friends, and they are extremely welcoming and helpful. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is thinking of staying in the area. And if it's food you like, there are loads of amazing restaurants within a short drive! Alastair (one of the owners) will recommend The Royal Oak, I would take his advise! I have never come back from their not completely full and satisfied!

Room Tip: Number 5 is my favourite, big comfy bed and very little noise! The flat round the back is also extre...

Nearly missed the turning as it is accessed through an industrial estate but in a good spot for walking and sightseeing in Buxton
rooms were clean if a little dated in choice of furnishings. the bathroom also clean, if a little compact with a noisy macerator which kicked in with use of toilet and sink
Breakfast was excellent cooked to order just a little strange to share a table with the couple next door
staff were friendly and helpful booking us a taxi into Buxton for a Saturday night out

Really nice, tucked out of the way hence very quiet & peaceful with owners that could not be any more helpful if they tried. Nicely presented rooms, plenty of parking and a nice wood to stroll around.
