Hadn't been in the Peak district in thirty years and it was raining. Our hosts took us to Poole`s Cavern for a delightful hour of education and exploration. The guide was both knowledgeable and entertaining even for that spooky bit where she turned off all the lights. On the surface you can admire the rugged terrain of the peaks but, if you want the real story of the geology you need to get below the surface. Young or old, you are going to be fascinated by a trip into the cavern.

Excellent cave, now with a visitors centre attached. Special memories for mw as my cousin wired all the electrics up in the first place, many years ago.

I must start by saying that our guide for the tour was exceptional! I wish i could remember his name however failing that simple test i do know he was welsh and very very good.
Informative and educational guide gave excellent simple explanations about the caves that brought the whole experience to life and enriched the visit. A surprise around every corner and great mix of real history and fantasy to keep the whole group engaged from Children to adults alike.
The Location was a surprise being situated within the outskirts of the town of Buxton and surrounded by mixed period houses. A strange scene to find such a great attraction.
The tour lasted an hour and well worth the £9 entrance fee, also if you sign up for gift aid, no cost to yourself you can revisit with the year and get in for free :-)
A lovely cafe' on site over looking a small river with bird tables and lots of animals and birds to watch while getting some lovely, well price quality refreshments.
A lovely attraction that we are looking for to revisiting later in the year. Make sure to take waterproof and warm clothing. The temperature is 7C but does feel chilly while you are there. Also as its under ground, its a cave after all there is water dripping down through the tour. Given we went on a lovely sunny dry day i would imagine it being wetter if its has been or is raining when you visit.
