“Beautiful park.. stealth visit - must come back!”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

OK theres a lovely park like this in Bath, but you have to PAY to sit in it! This one is free! and beautiful, and well looked after, fantastic play park with outdoor exercise equipment, pavilion with cafe and ice creams and events - the day we went there were vintage cars on show, right next to the theatre and a stones throw from station and Pooles Cavern - basically its a lovely day out if you've not got much time from Manchester - 50 mins on train.. we did the picnic by the japanese styled bridge on the river in the park and caverns and ice cream and a quick go round on the park mini steam train and a quick work out on the park equipment... back on the train .. all in a window of 6 hours!! Would definitely like to come back for a more relaxed mooch round the town centre and cute looking shops and cafes, and maybe a longer hike round the country park. Caverns were good - its all easy to get to if like us, you don't have a car.

A beautiful park for all. Lovely displays of flowers, good kids areas, the historical Pavillion buildings and plenty of nice walks.

“A must see”
Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

Worth a visit. We had good weather which helps, but a lot of effort has clearly gone into it. A narrow gauge railway is good for the kids and lots of play equipment too.

“Carnival Day”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

It was carnival day in Buxton and the weather was ideal. The town was buzzing, never seen so many people in one place. We all waited for the procession to parade along the main street of the town and when it came we all cheered and clapped. What there was of the carnival was really okay although it appeared to be diminished compared to last year. Nevertheless, once it had gone through the town the crowd headed for the pavilion gardens, the usual venue for entertainment on carnival day. This is a lovely place to visit for not only is the scenery stunning but the pavilion building itself is such a pleasant place to be in. The building has an art gallery, restaurant, cafe, conservatory and an octagon where different venues such as farmers markets, antique fairs etc are held. The gardens are a delight to behold and there is the river Wye which runs through the area. There is also a lake and ponds where you can see different species of ducks. There is a childs play area and a little train to ride on around the grounds. If you like plants the conservatory is quite a feature and rather unique. Its been there for as long as I can remember-not very large I must say but rather lovely.
