“Great B&B at very reasonable rates.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

This privately run B&B is excellent. The proprietor Mr Hesp (Billy) is a great host who cannot do enough for you, the food is excellent and if you want to stay somewhere welcoming, warm and friendly, this is the place to be.

This B&B has 3 stars and doesn't live up to it's expectations. The roomsize was fine, but there had not been dusted for at least a month! The nightstands, the saucers of the teacups, everything was covered with a thick layer of dust. Because it was very busy in town because of Easter we didn't want to look for another B&B, but we were tempted. Then there was the ensuite shower/toilet. Small, but that's okay. But: the only doors were two "saloondoors", which didn't close altogether. So when you wanted to use the toilet, your company in the room couldn't only hear you but also still see you.... If the price wasn't that steep, than it would have been okay for one night. But still the full 80 pounds, not worth it according to us!

My two friends and I had a lovely time here. We were in Buxton for the day and one night as we were attending a wedding. We were delighted to find somewhere to stay that was so nice yet very reasonable.
The owner, Billy, is a wonderful man - so helpful and friendly. We had no idea about transport to where the wedding was (it was a field in the middle of nowhere!), so Billy booked us a taxi. We were asked at what time we'd like breakfast, which was unexpected but greatly appreciated! When it came to leaving the next day, we were running a bit late for the train, so Billy offered to give us a lift to the station.

All round great experience. Would definitely recommend!

Very helpful when booking and a friendly welcome on arrival. Rooms were spot on. Bill offered us helpful local advice for dining out in Buxton. Breakfast was very nice and we were asked our preferred time. Excellent customer service & value. Many thanks.

Four of us stayed in Compton House for 3 nights. We can highly recommend this B&B to anyone. Bill, Clare and Marianne were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent. Easy parking on the road outside, close to town centre.
Keep up the good work, and thank you again!

This b&b really needs a website!
It's a beautiful building in a quiet setting 5 mins walk from the centre of Buxton.
I had a wonderful warm welcome from Bill and a beautiful double room at the front of the building with a bay window.
The room had beautiful antique furniture which was a real surprise.
The breakfast was fantastic and it was a bargain!
I will definitely stay here again!

This place needs a decent website to show it off a little more....or perhaps the old world approach is part of the charm. The rooms are very clean and adequate for a family. The hosts are very welcoming. The breakfast is traditional and tasty.
