A short walk to all Buxton facilities. Surrounding area has plenty of variety in things to do. The cottage facilities were perfect, the stairs were fairly steep but manageable even although I have a hip problem. The owner is the most attentive person we have experienced in all the cottages we have ever stayed in.
Even the snow did not inhibit our visit.
Lovely and comfortable house in Buxton town centre. Loved the welcome pack and felt at home. Pete and Catherine provided us with practical information about getting to the house. The house has everything you need for a nice holiday. Cosy living room, well equipped kitchen, 2 comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. Detailed maps and information for Buxton and Peak District in the house.
A beautifully kept cosy house in the heart of Buxton, booking was easy, arrival hamper a treat and our hosts had collected our tickets for the theatre. Everything we needed was in the kitchen, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms and showers excellent. All the little touches, like the hamper, local maps, games, books etc and the helpful contact from the hosts make this a very welcoming place to stay. We had a fabulous weekend of walking, yoga, a play and eating and sampling local pubs. I would thoroughly recommend this house and Buxton as the centre for a holiday or weekend away.
Thank you so much to the Spriggs family for such a wonderful comfortable stay at The Servants Quarters. A very welcoming house so well positioned - easy walking distance to the centre of Buxton and the nearby Park. Little touches such as as cotton wool buds, elastaplasts and lovely homemade biscuits and bread made it so welcoming and a wonderful home from home. A very comfortable well thought out and well equipped home!! Thank you so much!! We hope to be back again from Australia next year!!!
The Servant's Quarters has had exceptional favourable reviews and the guest's comments book is also full of positive comments all totally deserved as is the Tripadvisor 5 star rating. The accommodation suited us perfectly (two couples), it's all been said before but I will pick out location, cleanliness, attention to detail, communication from the owners (that would leave professional companies looking like amateurs) and not forgetting the welcome pack. This business deserves to flourish.
The cottage is set just a couple of streets back from the lovely park, and a short walk from Buxton's amenities - including small supermarket, shops, cafes, restaurants and some excellent pubs.
From the moment we made the booking, Pete's emails made us feel very welcome, and the thoughtful touches were evident in the cottage facilities and the lovely welcome pack in the kitchen.
We made the booking last-minute, hoping for a snowy weekend and that's just what we got. Buxton is the perfect spot to be snowed in - so pretty, loads of cafes and cosy pubs, parks to sledge in and a shopping centre. A lot less spoilt than many holiday towns and better value. The locals also seemed a lot more enthusiastic about tourists than in some places we've stayed.
The cottage has 2 lovely double bedrooms - one on the ground floor level close to the main bathroom, and the other with a great en suite - so it would be perfect for a family or for a group of friends. The sitting room and kitchen are down a level, and there's also a lovely little garden to the back. The kitchen is a good size, and you could easily cook meals in it if you don't want to eat out.
There are plenty of maps, leaflets and guide books in the cottage, and Pete's folder is well worth the read!
The value was excellent. I really couldn't fault this accommodation at all. We'd mentioned in our email exchange that it would be good to put a face to the name, so it was nice that Pete was able to pop in for a few minutes - I have no doubt that he would sort out any issues that anyone had very promptly.
Given the weather, we didn't do as much walking as we normally would, but enjoyed a walk up to Solomons Temple. I'm sure there must be some great walks to do in the summer.
Our favourite bar was 53 Degrees North, just round the corner - roaring fire, live music, plenty of gins and beers to work through and very friendly staff. It really was a lovely weekend to unwind before Christmas.
Required accommodation at short notice from mid-week accessible for the centre of Buxton and for walking the Pennine Bridleway and was pleased to find this property on cottages.com. Excellent communication from the very helpful owners who go well beyond the norm. They also take on board constructive feedback and do their best to correct any issues.
