A lovely house just five minutes walk from the centre of Buxton with all the pubs, shops and restaurants you could possibly want. The house is well equipped and spotless. The welcome pack is very welcoming with delicious home made bread and cookies along with other essentials and a bottle of wine. The hosts were great communicators before, during and after our stay. This takes any worries out of enjoying your holiday. All round very impressive and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this excellent property and our hosts.
The Servants' Quarters was perfect for our party of four; one couple (aged 87 & 92) had the first floor bedroom and bathroom and had no trouble with the stairs at all and the other couple were on the second floor with the benefit of the cosy reading and desk area. The Welcome Pack was the best we have ever had, with delicious home made bread and biscuits and a good red wine! The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need and everything was of excellent quality. For once we didn't need our box of emergency supplies. We followed two of Pete's recommendations for meals and both were superb - Simply Thai in Buxton and The Beehive Inn at Combs. There is so much to see and do in the area - we loved Hartington, the Tissington Trail, Cromford and the wonderful ridge walk at The Roaches. We would not hesitate to return.
House situated in the centre of Buxton close to the opera house and pavilion gardens. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Buses only a few minutes walk from the house to visit surrounding areas. Pete and Catherine are perfect hosts providing a lovely welcome basket thankyou so much for picking us up from the station and returning us.They provide everything in the house you would probably need. The beds are really comfortable and the house is immaculate. We would highly recommend this property.
Highly recommended: this place merits its 5 star rating! The message we received two weeks before our stay indicated our hosts pay particular attention to detail and take pride in the service provided. This was reinforced on arrival as we were greeted with a welcome basket of goods and comprehensive information on making the most of our stay. The property is well furnished, the kitchen thoughtfully equipped and the beds particularly comfortable.
One particular aspect of our hosts’ approach that we especially appreciated was the ethical and environmental stance they have adopted which deserves praise and demonstrates a commitment to sustainable tourism.
Buxton is an interesting town and an easy access to great walking opportunities in the Peak District. The property is within easy walking distance of the town centre, Country Park, shopping facilities and transport.
A short walk to all Buxton facilities. Surrounding area has plenty of variety in things to do. The cottage facilities were perfect, the stairs were fairly steep but manageable even although I have a hip problem. The owner is the most attentive person we have experienced in all the cottages we have ever stayed in.
Even the snow did not inhibit our visit.
Lovely and comfortable house in Buxton town centre. Loved the welcome pack and felt at home. Pete and Catherine provided us with practical information about getting to the house. The house has everything you need for a nice holiday. Cosy living room, well equipped kitchen, 2 comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. Detailed maps and information for Buxton and Peak District in the house.
A beautifully kept cosy house in the heart of Buxton, booking was easy, arrival hamper a treat and our hosts had collected our tickets for the theatre. Everything we needed was in the kitchen, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms and showers excellent. All the little touches, like the hamper, local maps, games, books etc and the helpful contact from the hosts make this a very welcoming place to stay. We had a fabulous weekend of walking, yoga, a play and eating and sampling local pubs. I would thoroughly recommend this house and Buxton as the centre for a holiday or weekend away.
