“Superb B and B in the Peak District”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

This was an outstanding B&B on a working farm, with a large herd of Holstein cattle.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The rooms were very comfortable. They had all that were needed, from an excellent selection of coffee and teas, to decent flat screen tvs. The bathrooms have been recently refurbished to a very high standard, with excellent showers.

Breakfasts were superb, with a large selection to order from. The cooked breakfast was made of local produce, which was particularly tasty.

A real bonus to Fernydale farm was the lounge/conservatory. We enjoyed sitting in there and reading after a nice pub meal in the evenings. There were several games as well to play if with friends/families.

Do be aware, this is very much a working farm, with cows milked early etc! For us, this was part of the charm.

Thoroughly recommended and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 4 had the best views!

Being a city gal, it was a real treat to stay at a lovely B&B on a real working dairy farm. Bill and Yasmin were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. They were also very helpful in giving directions as our Sat Nav was getting confused on some of the smaller country roads.
Our room was lovely, bright, clean and had everything we needed.
Yasmin served us an absolutely delicious, farm fresh, breakfast the next morning.
We would certainly recommend Fernydale Farm to others and would return again.

Room Tip: Be sure to have a dinner or lunch at The Carriages Restaraunt, just 6 miles away. It is one of the...

One of the best B&B's we've stayed at. We had trouble finding it upon arrival to Earl Sterndale and never did see the sign for it. A local had to help us find it. The room was amazing. My only complaint is the selection of flat pillows on the bed but good lofty synthetic pillows are hard to find anywhere in Europe. Tea and cookies in the room, big TV on the wall, beautiful view out the window. It does have the Euro style shower with a half door so be careful not to splash water on the floor. The shared rooms are easily discernible and consist of the breakfast room and sun room. The sun room was very nice with a big TV, local hiking guides, books, and board games. It is a cow farm and throughout the day they will move cows about the fields. We went hiking up the footpath behind the B&B that goes to an amazing viewpoint on top of a hill. Just make sure the cows aren't in the field first. Breakfast was among the best I've had at a B&B. Check off what you want the night before from a list. Possibly the best breakfast sausage I've ever had. We also went horseback riding at Northfield farm in nearby Flash, UK. Very fun farm stay.

Friendly people, super comfy bed, lovely bathroom, magnificent scenery, delicious breakfasts where you are spoiled for choice - what more could you ask for? As for being dog friendly, well Harry, our lurcher, was made very welcome. Definitely a b and b to return to! Diane, Sid and Harry.

Room Tip: Enormous double bed with an amazing view

Comfortable bed with large, very convenient en-suite. A little cool weather-wise, so we appreciated the underfloor heating being on! This is a working farm, so we were able to enjoy watching the milking herd being moved up and down the lane from the pasture to the milking shed, with all of the accompanying farm noises. Yasmin cooked delicious breakfasts for us, preceded by a lovely, fresh fruit salad - something not always available. Very good value overall, and most enjoyable.

We enjoyed 4 nights at Fernydale. The room was spotless and facilities were modern. We made use of the conservatory the first night to sit with a bottle of wine and the views were simply beautiful. Yasmin was friendly and very helpful and she made the most delicious breakfasts for us. It is a working farm so you may hear the mooing of cows early morning but we didn't mind at all! Overall excellent value for money and we loved it! Oh and do try the royal oak nearby for meals - we had 2 excellent evenings there.
