“Totally Faultless Experience!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and we can't rave about it enough. We had a huge amount of snow on the Friday when we arrived, so I telephoned in advance to make sure everything was ok, at which point Caroline offered to collect us from the train station!! I thought that was such a sweet gesture. The B&B is beautiful, it's well located and Caroline & Rupert are lovely. We stayed in room 2 which was very warm (our soaking wet shoes and socks dried very quickly) and tastefully decorated (Victorian with modern comforts and a high standard of finish). The breakfasts were stunning, made with clearly the highest quality ingredients (including homemade bread and jams). Some people might find it off-putting to have to select your breakfast items the evening before, but I like that it means nothing goes to waste and it's ready exactly when you want it. Caroline also let us borrow some walking poles for the hike we had planned to do, because of the very thick snow. Rupert was slightly more stand-off-ish than Caroline (he reminded us of Martin Clunes in Doc Martin!) but was nonetheless very helpful and charming. To sum up, we enjoyed a beautiful room, in a beautiful house, run by charming, friendly people!! Can't wait to book again and have passed the recommendation on to friends already!

Not sure where to start, but having stayed for four nights recently, I can thoroughly recommend this B&B. Parking was off street and plentiful. All areas of the property were clean and welcoming and secure. Our room was warm, clean, and always had an amply stocked and re-stocked refeshments tray. Breakfasts were a real treat with an extensive choice of cereals, numerous combinations of cooked breakfasts as well as fruit, home-made bread and home-made preserves to die for. The location was ideal and was well within walking distance of suitable venues for evening drinks or meals. Certainly one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in and worthy of a recommendation. Thank you, Rupert & Caroline, for a delightful stay.

Found this location great, rooms very clean & a good choice of breakfast, & 4 different times for breakfast. Six adults stayed 3 rooms, we were there to attend a wedding at Pavillion gardens, you can have a easy walk down the side of the king head or 2 min in a taxi for £2.50 to the gardens.
A group of 30 / 50+year olds found the night life very good & the locals very friendly,
We are making arrangements already to return for a week end out, and would stay here again if available.

We chose 9 Green Lane as it was perfectly situated for us to attend the wedding of friends who were getting married in Buxton. It is situated in a quiet road within easy walking distance of the centre of Buxton. Easy parking. Caroline and Rupert were very welcoming and happy to give advice regarding places to visit (Rupert gave glowing reports on Haddon Hall which we visited on our way back to Hove and it was as delightful and interesting as he had said) and provide information on places to eat (plenty of information in the green book in each room plus additional brochures). Breakfast was plentiful and delicious particularly the home-made marmalade, jam and bread. We thought the idea of deciding what you wanted for breakfast the night before was a very good one. We would thoroughly recommend 9 Green Lane. Many thanks to Caroline and Rupert for making our stay so pleasurable.

All that you could wish for a perfect place to stay in Buxton. It's situated in a pleasant road within easy walking distance of the delightful Pavillion Gardens and Opera House. Have stayed here for a number of years on my annual visit to the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival and could never wish for a better place to stay. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable and always kept immaculately clean. Rupert and Caroline can never do enough to give suggestions to all their guests for places to eat and visit, walks and scenic drives through the nearby idyllic countryside. On top of all of this there's the stunning breakfast - with a selection of at least 6 of Caroline's home made marmalades and jams (try the rhubarb and ginger) and her delicious toasted home-made bread. I wonder how many five star hotels serve such offerings?

My annual visits to the Buxton Opera Festival are immeasurably enhanced by the opportunity once again to stay in Caroline and Rupert's B&B. Well appointed, brilliant breakfasts, reliable wifi, delightful hosts well engaged with their disparate group of guests (opera lovers; walkers; visitors to stately homes) - this place goes from strength to strength. I'm already looking forward to next July and - hopefully - the chance to stay at 9 Green Lane once again.
