My husband and I have just returned from a one night stay at the Old Manse. My impression of the place got better and better. We had room 3 and the bed is very comfy and huge. The room itself is large and has everything you could need. The shower room is great and seems newly done, there was lots of hot water. We thought that there could not be many other guests as the house was so quiet but when we went down to breakfast, we realised it was full. We had a great night sleep that was completely uninterrupted. The breakfast is one of the best we have ever had. I had a great omelette and other half had a full English. The ingredients were high quality and well cooked. The choice was very good, with plenty of fruit, yoghurt and cereals on the buffet. There is plenty of parking nearby and it is only a short walk to the Pavilion Gardens. Even nearer is the Market Place with some good pubs. We ate at a place called no.13 on Market Street, the food was great and only a very short walk back to the Old Manse afterwards. In summary, the Old Manse is well positioned, very comfortable rooms and a wonderful breakfast. We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts.

A warm welcome, clear explanation of facilities, attention to detail and handsome breakfast choices added to a smartly presented accommodation made this an ideal short stay base for a family wedding in the town. However we would also consider a longer stay if we had the time to explore the area more fully. Tim and Elizabeth have worked hard on decoration and presentation over the last year and it shows; thank you!

Room Tip: Although fronting the street we found the sizeable R3 very quiet, and with seating and a table, good...

My young daughter and I stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting family in Buxton and having a day out at Alton Towers. The owners were very welcoming, our room on the top floor was really very clean and comfortable, and had everything you might need and more, including iron, hair dryer, tea and coffee etc.
Breakfast was lovely and a very good selection which was cooked to perfection.
Only slight gripe was small shower and patchy wifi on top floor, otherwise perfect for a short stay in Buxton.

Room Tip: If wifi is essential ask for a room not on top floor.

From when we arrived to leaving in the morning, everything was as it should be in a B&B. Our hosts were welcoming and the room on the top floor well furnished. Fresh milk in a flask was a nice touch. Bathroom only had a shower and was rather small but the shower worked well. Very convenient location but a quiet street. Helpful suggestions for restaurants in the evening and an excellent breakfast. Try the oatcake wraps for a substantial start to the day.

Having performed at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, we wanted a hotel that was close by, comfortable and reasonably priced. As it turned out, The Old Manse exceeded expectations. The room was large, the bed was comfortable and packed with creature comforts. The welcome was warm and informative, and we would definitely stay there again if we return to Buxton. Can't say anything about the breakfast because we never made it downstairs!

We stayed here for 3 nights, location quiet part of town, is excellent for exploring the surrounding countryside, central to Buxton many lovely pubs and restaurants. The Old Manse itself is immaculate, the rooms tastefully decorated , with very large beds, excellent tea coffee biscuits in room including a teapot ? Ironing board & hair dryer. The breakfast menu is vast, all sourced locally, cooked to order and served by owners Tim & Elizabeth, who's friendly professional experience made the stay very relaxed. We will be going back.

Room Tip: Room 4 excellent

I am really fussy about where I stay and recommend The Old Manse. The guest house offered everything that you could need, it was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Excellent choice for breakfast and the owners made my stay relaxed.
Short walk to restaurants and shops. Definitely recommend staying here, I'll be back.
