Never having stayed at a Premier Inn, we weren't quite sure what to expect as we usually prefer to use B&B's which are small and friendly. But we were pleasantly surprised by the East Mayne Inn. Our welcome from the front desk staff, Katrina in particular, was friendly and informative. She told us that, because it was so hot, a fan had been placed in our room and that a sheet was on the bed, rather than the duvet which was still in the room if we required it. The fan and the open window certainly helped cool us in the muggy weather. We'd been allocated a ground floor room, but Katrina changed it to the first floor for us with no fuss or bother. The room was functional, clean and met our needs, though we had to ask for another small hand towel as only one was provided. Also the hand soap gadget didn't work, so the cleaning staff left us a separate squeezy one.
Being able to eat at the ajoining Beefeater was very handy and the food was good, although on the Saturday night our family gathering had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive. But the ribs were amazing and worth the wait! Also the beer garden outside our window was supposed to be emptied by 10pm, but it was almost 11pm before the last folk went home. But it was a hot night and our window was open so the sounds carried. It didn't bother us too much but I gather a wedding party was very noisy somewhere in the Inn, though we weren't disturbed.
We stayed three nights, paying £145 including breakfast, and we were satisfied with our visit as the room and bed were comfortable, the cleaning standards were high and the continental breakfasts more than adequate. I think we would certainly use the Premier Inn chain again.
