“Not as good as the Beefeater Haiwain on the A13”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Well we came here for a change to our usual haunt at the Beefeater Haiwain so we could all drink and it was within easy walking distance.

We could see it was quite busy but we got a nice seat in the conservatory, the tables were clean and our drinks orders were taken straight away.

From here on in though we found the service to be slow and there were a lot of spare tables in our area so they should of been better really, considering we are comparing this to the Haiwain and when that is rammed it still provides a timely service.

We ordered from the Day Value Menu and the food was good when it arrived, perfectly cooked to the usual Beefeater standard even if it took a bit of time. We then sat waiting for our plates to be cleared and the desert menus to be handed out.

This took some time to happen and it seemed all the other people in the area were looked after before they came to us. A bit annoying but hey I can understand it happens sometimes. However once we had the menus we then had to wait ages again to place our order.

All in all the food was great, we just felt we weren't served in the usual timely manner we have come to expect from other Beefeater restaurants.

Would we come here again and give it another go - certainly. However we would be much more ilikely to go back to the Beefeater Haiwain where we have had a faultless service many times.

“Pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

I booked a table for 10 at the watermill for my mum's 70th Birthday. Never been there before. We were in a small private room, which was a nice bonus. The time waiting for the meal was approx. an hour, which was too long with a 5yr old in the party. However, the food was good plenty of it, but the ribs were a bit dry. Our waitress, Karen, was rushed off her feet, but kept smiling. She brought in the cake and a knife to cut the cake and serviettes to wrap it in.
All in all, a good meal, and good value for money, will be visiting again.

“Must do. Better!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Went here for evening meal. Main dishes were OK and sweat/pudding was also nice but service very poor, resources very stretched and although staff were polite don't think I will be making a return visit.

“Good value. Friendly staff”
Reviewed 10 July 2014 via mobile

My partner and I visit here fairly regularly as he has a reward card so more often than not we get a freebie of some sort and I've not had a poor experience. The food we have has always been hot and tasty. This is one of the few places that I have eaten chicken that isn't dry as a bone which is always nice. Our last server was very friendly and helpful as I was being rather picky but it didn't faze her at all. We didn't have to wait too long before courses and they were pretty prompt at getting my partner another drink. Its definitely worth a visit.
