We are on holiday from Devon and wanted to play a couple of courses. The clubhouse was very clean, well laid out and the staff and members welcoming. We loved the course! After a deluge of rain the night before, it played really well. The fairways are wide and well cut and kind for the higher handicapper. The greens were generally large with challenging pin positions and immaculate, they ran true and quite fast despite yesterday's rain. We stopped in the clubhouse between the 10th and 11th for coffee and lovely homemade cake before playing the back 8. All in all a really nice course to play.

We were invited to lunch for a Ruby wedding lunch on 28 July for around 40 guests and, sadly, our experience on the day was far from the reviews I’ve read here.

On the positive side, the venue and location are really pleasant and every member of the waiting and bar staff we came across were friendly and helpful, service was good considering most of the waiting staff were part timers. No issues at all there.

However, what shocked us, given the reviews here, was the appalling quality of the food we were given. There was a limited choice on the menu (no problem with that) and it should have been so easy to ensure a good standard for a buffet/carvery type menu.

We started off with the pate. It was a hot day – and obviously very hot in the kitchen - because when these starters were served the pate was luke warm and almost melting on the plate – inedible and not a little dangerous I would have thought. Our main course was roast lamb. This was poor quality and not helped by the carver picking a piece of string from my plate with his fingers! We couldn’t decide if the potatoes were supposed to be boiled or roast. Whatever they were they were hard, under cooked and a sad colour. The dessert was apple pie. That was good and the only course we managed to eat and enjoy.

Such a pity. This poor quality really marred what should have been a happy occasion for our hosts. Rye Hill should be ashamed of themselves. One star for the waiting staff and location, zero for everything else.

As a guest at a wedding this weekend, I can only applaud the family for choosing this wonderful venue. The food was really original and delicious. Quite often in venues like this, you feel the staff are pushed too hard - not here. They had ample staff so service was excellent; the way they used the rooms was really clever, changing the room from the ceremony for the reception without us even realising it was happening - lovely weather so we sipped our drinks outside helped. Without doubt I'd recommend this venue for weddings or celebrations; just superb!

I recently had lunch at Rye Hill with a friend, the food was good, service was quick and it was good value for money. I will visit again sometime for lunch and a round of golf.

I recently attended the Cotswold Comedy Club at Rye Hill and it was excellent. The venue was fantastic, with reasonably priced drink and plenty of seats and tables. The surrounding golf course and fields all looked beautiful, especially upon entrance to the club via the small road from the gates. The comedians were all very funny and varied in style. I am planning to go to the next one at Rye Hill, as I had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend it.
