We just love eating at this pub, especially in the summer under the covered vine terrace. Their yorkshire puds are to be well appreciated.

“Good place for lunch before going to Broughton Castle”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

A lovely friendly pub with an excellent menu. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. They were able to modify the meals to meet particular dietary needs. The pub is within easy reach of Broughton Castle which has limited catering facilities. The daily special- home-made fish pie was delicious and filling so we did not get a chance to try the desserts which sounded really tempting. We will go back another day as we were so impressed.

“Wonderful food and service”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

What a find, lovely oldy worldy pub with a beautiful garden. We were a party of 12 booked in advance and they had gone to the trouble of setting tables inside and out so we could chose! The ploughman s presentation was amazing, I rump steak which was cooked to how I ordered, and very tender, and with a choice of sauces which didn't cost extra, the pink peppercorn sauce was lovely. They also had huge home-made pies, packed with meat and a very generous slice on the plate. The wine I had was lovely although I forget which one it was. The waiting staff were very attentive and helpful.

“Delightful pub and restaurant”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

This has been our second visit in a group of about 20 people. The venue is delightful and the staff looked after us well with good food. Wheel chair access made possible with a moveable ramp; nothing was too much trouble to make us feel comfortable. Will certainly visit again as will most in our group.

“Varied Menu, Friendly service - lovely food”
Reviewed 26 June 2013

We felt this place was a real find and actually went back there the other day (sadly it was a Bank Holiday aftternoon and it was closed, gutted!)
We thought the menu had plenty of choices and whilst we stood at the bar the chef explained he made homemade pies - he bought one our to show us and it looked fabulous. We were tempted by other things on the menu that visit but will be back to try them next time - there were 3 choices on top of all that is on the menu.
We both had steaks - cooked exactly to our liking, sauces on the side as requested and more than enough chips and salad for both of us. The salad was beautifully presented and there were a variety of dressings available too.
We left full and very happy with our meal - the bill was very reasonable - it's not the cheapest place but the quantity and quality of the food more than justifies the price - if you want cheap then you could never expect this sort of food and cheapskates should visit place and accept sub standard meals.
Keep up the great work, we will be back soon!
